View Full Version : In appearance anyway, arguably the most "classic" aviatior watch...

when it comes to opinions on this subject. Your beauties are of course a bit more than a generation earlier which may well trump the "youngsters".... ;-) :-!
Cheers, mate. :-)

Ron, what would you say to this - that the great Navitimers are the classic aviation watch of the jet age, and the great Flieger watches (Stowa, Wempe, IWC, etc.) are the aviation watch of the propeller age??
This is one reason I've come to like Breitling so much. I was thinking only in terms of Rolex GMTs in their Pan Am days as jet-age aviation watches. I totally didn't know that Breitling had this serious heritage till a few months ago, more's the pity!
And as I never tire of telling folks, your pics on the forums are partly what got it through my skull!

Hmmmmmmmmmm.... Can't really argue with that logic. :-! And Dick (Watchbreath) has a good point as well. :-) For today's generation, the X-33 and B-1 look pretty darn good although I am WAY biased toward the B-1 of course. Rene's treasures notwithstanding, my display back Cossie on the brown Bund would still win the prize for being "spot on" as they say in the Mother Country, at least in my opinion. Worn with an A-2 or a G-1 that watch simply becomes a "part of the uniform" if you get my drift. For those unfamiliar with those terms, an A-2 is the beautiful leather flight jacket (with epaulets) issued to USAF aviators and the G-1 is the beautiful leather flight jacket (with mouton collar) issued to USN aviators. Both were discontinued (budget cuts) in favor of different nylon designs but revived due to their amazing popularity. "Google" flight jacket history for more info if you're interested. Ok, let's have a review for a little confirmation now... ;-) :-d
Cheers,
Ron

You mentioned A-2s and G-1s - something dear to my heart. I hope to do some photos this weekend!
