How much did they change from inception to present day? I'm kind of wondering if technology made for the mechanical parts to be lighter these days thus making the modern day Speedy Pro lighter...

Was just watching Frequency for the nth time again, this is the only time where I noticed the Speedy Pro being worn (after seeing the Omega celebs thread) and wow those close up shots of the Speedy Pro are really nice...

I can imagine Dennis Quaid having a big wrist and the Speedy Pro he was wearing in 1969(of course I know its a modern day model) looked kind of big on his wrist...what sort of dimension changes happened over the years? And that scene where he was in a fire, I'm assuming the Speedy didn't flinch because Jim Caviezel's character (well, another assumption) probably inherited it...nice strap on those as well.

Movies and Hollywood...:-s

Yes, Yes there is, but most of what I don't know or haven't committed to electrons are a couple of layers deeper into the dirt than the questions typically asked.

Interesting thought for my fellow Frequency (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0186151/) fans...

Since the 1969 portion of the film takes place during the 1969 Mets-Orioles World Series [a painful background for a life-long Cubs fan], it severely limits which Speedmaster actor Dennis Quade's character could have owned...

On the "must be a model made before 1970" end of possibilities, eliminated are any Speedmaster Pro's 145.022-70 and newer.

Since the watch clearly has twisted lugs, eliminated as possibilities are the CK's in their entirety, the 105.002, 105.003, 145.003. Leaving as the only possibilities: 105.012's, 145.012's, 145.022-68 and 145.022-69 models.

I can't see if there is an applied logo in the two snaps I created using my iBook G3 back in 2002, does anyone else have some insight which may further narrow the possibilities? It may well be possible the in the film while the director/prop person did an OUTSTANDING JOB in choosing a watch that a fireman [especially one who is obviously a HAM Radio and Space Enthusiast] would choose, and also a watch which is easy to source today... It remains a possibility that an incorrect era Speedmaster was worn by the actor portraying his role.

P.S. An OUTSTANDING Movie by the way, recommended to all enthusiastically my myself [even if you are not a Speedmaster fan].

Definitely one of my favorites, even before I discovered the magic of the Speedy...I would probably think that though the plot hints that the watch was inherited by Jim Caviezel's character, in the end *spoiler* when Frank Sullivan lives, what happens to the watch? Who wears it then?

And its highly probable that it is a modern day Speedy, though I'm not sure how authentic they wanted the movie to be in terms of things of that nature...
