anyone think that's the original bezel?

was it usual to cut the military serial numbers into an already engraved back?

also, anyone think the 165.024 being punched into a milled area looks kind of odd on the inside of the case back too?

Your on the money. The bezel is not original and looks like one off a Seiko.

All the rest of the watch is typical. The MoD at first did remove the original engraving off the back before stamping their numbers, but later on did not do that and it is common to see the serial numbers over the original engraving.

no way. i'm completely gobsmacked!!! seller has a great sense of humour though (always a bargain!!!). there are better example listed in the eBay shop for much less than half that price.
