A shark mouth Curtis P-40E and a Lemania powered Breitling Cosmonaute. My wife says this pic reminds her of what happens to my wallet every time a nice timepiece gets next to it. :-D I like the 3D effect this pic has with a flat watch face and the focal length used on the prop placement. B-)
Cheers,
Ron

Watches - I know little about. But P40's - well I know a fair bit about them!
For the record there is no way that is a P40E - with 6 guns in the wings. It looks more like a (much later) P40M - an all-round much better plane! :-)

Now the conversation is going my way :-)
I'd have to agree with Ron that it's an "E" model, which had six wing mounted .50's.
Maybe you're thinking of the earlier AVG "C" model which had two .50's in each wing and two .30's above the nose.

Maybe you're thinking of the earlier AVG "C" model which had two .50's in each wing and two .30's above the nose.I'll post an earlier (much lower quality, sorry.) shot I took of that model with my Crosswind. The model is a 1/48th scale P-40E kit manufatured by Otaki. The markings are aftermarket decals plus personally hand painted tail markings. The aircraft reasonably accurately represented here was flown by Lieutenant Dallas Clinger with the 23rd Fighter Group, 16th Fighter Squadron during October 1942 in Kweilin, China. Once during his tour of duty, Clinger was laid up in a field hospital with malaria. A reporter with "Stars and Stripes" came to interview him and wanted to "pretty up" the airplane for photographs. Clinger told the reporter if he touched his P-40 he would get out of bed and kill him. The reporter retreated to Clinger's commanding officer to help persuade Clinger of the requirement. Clinger told his C.O. to tell the reporter "Go p_ss on the Japs!". Hence the origin for the "cowboy" tail markings next to the rising sun. The text on the markings below the little cowboy say's "Hold'n My Own". Here is a link for you:
