My Steinhart NavB- Uhr arrived yesterday. I'm very impressed with this one. I think this does not feel like a $429. The watch quality does not reflect the price. I agree with other WUS members about this watch, and I am glad that I have bought one.

The Steinhart looks terrific. I prefer the second hand to be in the centre, but on this watch the attractiveness of the seperate dial impresses me. I would consider buying one myself, but the case is too huge for my tiny wrists.

Nice one ! :-! They are terrific watches and I'm enjoying mine a lot. For the money it's just amazing and I can't fault it. Ive got the version with their new Debaufre name and put it on the strap below. which is just a touch more practical for everyday useage. Enjoy yours, I have trouble taking mine off my wrist :-d

It's one of Don's straps, have a look at http://www.homestead.com/rlx/17.html It's one of the R Series, the California Tan. It's nice and soft and just a bit easier to wear on a day to day basis than the one that came with the watch. :-)

My friend came to my house today and showed me his pilot watch. It is the Azimuth Jagdbombardier Big Pilot!!

Both are 47 mm in diameter and really well constructed. Steinhart pilot watch has bigger hour and minute hands, thicker case, and more curve on sapphire crystal. The movement are same Unitas 6497 manual wind 17 jewelled movement. The cotes de geneve waves in the movement of Azimuth are deeper and clearer.

Here are some pics of both watches.

Hi,

Azimuth,Steinhart,IWC, etc.. All have pilot's watches and looks almost similar in design. What is the main difference in them...? Price and quality?
Reliability? Can someone enlighten me....

..... I am glad that I have bought one.

You'll like that watch- especially for the price paid.

Steinhart new B-uhr with centre seconds hand modified Unitas is more expensive - about 1300 eur.

Here are mine

Grand Marquise and B-uhr on vintage strap

Grand Marquise is to thin and crown hurts sometimes. B-uhr is great. After I've put it on Stainhart vintage strap it looks much more "older"

Besides comfort I like B-uhr more because it has no text on dial - just markers.

For this type of watch what wrist size is suitable and look nice?

MaxStatic

My 6.5in wrist sports it nicely IMHO. I think any smaller than that and it would be a little large. I'm into big watches though so YMMV. ;-)

Looks great! I've got one on the way in January so they told me. Is the lug width on the Steinhart 22mm by any chance? I'd like to order a strap if so...

I think it is 22mm.

I've got B-uhr on a vintage strap from Steinhart - see the photo in previous reply in this thread.
I've got longer of two versions.

Gunther has got lovely vintage leather straps. They are on site on accesories page.

Yea, they are 22MM. I've had mine now for a while and really like it. It's pretty big for my 6.5in wrist but I think I pull it off. The strap that came on mine is a little different than the one pictured at the top. Mine still has rivets but there is no white stitching surrounding the rivets i.e. no white box. Does that make sense? I figure this was done for cost reasons as there is less stitching. It still has the white stitch trim, just not around the rivets. I think I like the stitching around the rivets though so I may upgrade the strap in the future. For now, just wearing the heck out of it.

If there is anyone on the fence on this watch, go ahead and jump, you won't be sorry. :-!

I recently picked up one of these and I like it.
I'm just not sure I love it.
It looks like I ripped the classroom clock from third grade off the wall and slapped it on my wrist.
I hope it grows on me.
Maybe a different strap might help.

May I add my Nav B Ltd. watch (#234)? It got delivered in a very nice box and with a second strap, as well as a strap changing tool. The quality of the watch is 100% perfect, the lume is great and it wears nicely on my wrist. Also the straps are very comfortable and so I will order some more from Steinhart (have a look at their HP; there are some nice variations). What I just love on this watch, is its plain and simple design, esp. that there is no brand name on the dial. It's quite an eye catcher and people are trying hard to find out what kind of watch/ brand that is. It even goes with a suite in the office (sometimes, at least). Have a look yourself:

How much thicker is the Nav B-Uhr? I had read they increased the thickness for a more comfortable wear and so that the crown doesn't dig into the hand.

Interesting. I can have a crown issue if I let my strap be loose. If it is snug the crown doesn't hit my hand. I don't know if I have an older or newer model though.

The old case, just the case without bezel and caseback, had a thickness of 6mm. The new case measures at 8.2mm. That doesn't read like a whole lot, but believe me, it makes a huge diefference.

Hey Simon, that reminds me of another question I had, perhaps you know...the 6497 is large, at 16.5; in the 47mm case on the NavB it looks like it is pretty close to filling it up. Any idea how small the case can be for that movement? I know they are working on a 43mm version, I am thinking this is about as small as you can go with that Unitas in there...

Triton
January 14th, 2008, 21:27
Chris, the Unitas has an overall diameter of 37.2mm, so I would assume, that it could still fit into a 40mm case. But maybe that's already too tight. I have definately seen 6497/98s in 42mm cases though. Look at Stowa for example.

That sounds about right..the funny thing is, at 43mm the newer NavB will be squeezing the 6497 in, and using a pretty big spacer for the 2824, which at 11.5 has some breathing room! :-d

Thanks...looking forward to the new stuff coming!

I think I understand your question. As long as the strap is not overly loose, you shouldn't have issues with the crown digging into your wrist.

As far as whether it will easily slide under the cuff of a sleeve really depends on your wrist size and how tight the sleeve is.

His watch is beautiful, I go to buy one. but 47 mm worry to me to the size and the crown. it is really coway to use all the days in the work...... nonweight much, problems with the sleeve of the shirt. I wait for its answer since you have the experience to use it

Hello,

I believe this limited edition watch is sold out! However if you are concerned about the 47mm anyway, I believe that Steinhart is producing a similar looking modell in 43mm size in the future. I do wear my watch with a suite and shirt with cuff-links from time to time without any problems. The crown does not hurt, either!

Hey USC - my wrists are smaller than yours, and up to now I have consider 42 about as big as I want to go...but I must admit, my Nav B at 47 mm is actually quite comfortable and to me does not look out of place. Large, to be sure, but the case is not overly thick, but thick enough to keep the crown from bothering my arm. Bottom line, after I had it on for a few minutes I was not thinking about the size at all, I was just enjoying it. I have worn it with a dress shirt to wor with no problems! So I can't guarantee you will like the fit, but overall I can recommend the watch itself without reservation....

Outside the EU you will get goods invoiced without the VAT.
You can reduce the purchase price to 84 % (19 % included);
i.e.: purchase price is 100,- Euros/ net price is 84,- Euros.

I have 7.25-7.5 wrist and prefer watches 44mm, 45mm, 47mm and up.

Depends on what you like. 42mm looks small to me now.

Here is it looking much larger than it actually looks on my wrist. The lug to lug measurement is smaller than the width of my wrist so no issues with wearing it.

There would be nothing wrong with increasing prices on highly sought after models. However, that is simply not the case in this instance. What has happened here is the same that is happening to many Swiss watch manufacturers. The price increase is related to the increase in cost and decrease in availability of popular ETA movements. You can blame Swatch.
