View Full Version : Mad Cow impressions, 7 days out...

Just some quick impressions:

1. Accuracy is superb! Worn 24/7, after 7 days, it's a maximum of one second out. I love that!

2. Comfort is freakin' incredible. At 190 grams, it's not the lightest Titanium watch out there, but the way it wraps around my (7.5") wrist makes it the most comfortable large watch (on bracelet) I've ever worn. I have problems with my left wrist, problems that made me sell my Seiko Marinemaster and my Sinn U1 (both 209 gram watches). Both of those watches were really comfortable, but they made my wrist and hand hurt really bad. I have NO such problems with my Mad Cow.

3. Legibility is great in all situations. The blued hands against the white dial are great in dim to bright light, the Tritium takes over from dim to full dark.

3. Bracelet and end links are sweet. It took me a few days to realize one of the reasons why the bracelet is a combination of Ti & steel. Balance. The bracelet & excellent clasp balance the head very well, much like the Omega Seamaster Pro with the "Bond" bracelet. It comes with not one, but two half links, and uses screws for adjustment. The end links are extremely well made, and are held in place by two screw/tube assemblies. Speaking of that, the watch comes with a superb rubber strap with a signed (cast) clasp and the tools you need to change everything out.

4. Fit & finish are very good, at least as good as Omega, better than my Kermit (Rolex LV Sub) in several areas.

5. One downside, one that doesn't impact functionality, is the lume on bezel. It looks cool, but it's useless. If you light it up before you go to bed or whatever, it dies in 5 minutes.

There is a Tritium tube embedded in the 12:00 pip, so you get all the functionality of a normal divers watch. A point to consider, lume on the rest of the bezel would be distracting in the dark. Too much information, if you know what I mean...

Speaking of the bezel, it clicks nicely, is as hard to turn as it needs to be, is held in place with four screws. I like that.

This brings up a few of my desired features in watches.

1. rotating bezels held in place by screws

2. bracelets using screws instead of springbars to secure them

3. bracelets using screws instead of pins for adjustment

4. bracelets coming with at least one half link

5. Tritium lume!

A spot on review LO...I agree completely. The one thing I would add that makes it, and other Balls, stand out is the engraved case backs - a thing of beauty... |>

I know exactly what you mean! I find myself taking my Mad Cow off to look at the case back a lot. Funny thing, I've had a few nice watches with display backs, including a Speedy Pro (the 1863 movement is beautiful!), I enjoy looking at the engraved case back on my Mad Cow even more.

Someday I'd love to own some version of a Ball. Beautiful watches. There is something about them that appeals to me a lot more than watches that are a good deal more expensive.

Congrats
