Sorry for the long title but as it says, what are the drawbacks? Other than it's not "fresh" from the factory and that it has been sitting underneath the bright lights for a while?

If it is scuffed up, dial faded, crystal scratched - don't get it.
Otherwise, I don't think it is a big deal.
It will have the full warranty

How about buying from Costco any thoughts?

Check for fading on straps.

Costco is not an AD, ask them how they warranty it.
Our local Costco had a Chronomat on display for a couple of years, I didn't think that the price was a bargain and I guess others felt the same.

It may all depend on the price and warrantry coverage,

Your talking about a new one, right? I got a Navitimer Montbrillant automatic (1998-99 about) with deployant clasp last month for $1250 because I showed the jeweler it had a little scratch on the crystal. He had it tagged $1900, offered me $1500 at first. I've seen the same watch go for $2200 on eBay. It was pre-owned but O/W in perfect shape and runs on the money.

Yeah, a new one. I placed an order for one last week of November. The AD has one similar but different strap on display since back then I think. Watch seems to be okay. It's getting to the point where I think I'll just get the display but I'm thinking I've waited this long maybe I'll wait a while longer.
All good things to those who wait...
