I need to get my circa 1968 (so I am told) Constellation serviced. It's running quite fast, needs a real crystal, and maybe a dial cleaning. I can bring it to the Omega Service Center in NYC. Or are there any other suggestions? I would like to bring it back to original spec, if possible. I got it off the 'bay a while ago, so I'm suspecting there is some Franken going on here. (pictured here with my spanking new Seamaster!)

Your watch probably just needs a COA. The dial looks great and except for a dusting I would not touch it. For his you do not need to go through Omega. Save money and time and find a local Watchmaker who has a good reputation. Post a request for references in your area and I am sure you will get some recommendations...

What makes you think there is something wrong with your watch?

Send it to Bienne. Shouldn't take more than 6 months to a year to get it back. You mean you bought that thing on Fleabay? No warranty or
guarantee at all? Should have bought from an AD with a warranty.
That Connie doesn't have a real crystal? From the pictures, it sure looked real. Or did you mean an OEM Omega crystal?

All joking aside...........You'll do much better price wise if you can find an independent watchmaker. The parts are available for that watch
and it sounds like it needs and overhaul and cleaning. Check around.

Feel free to ''use'' my watchmaker..;-)

His name is Ferrie Schweitzer and he worked for Omega Bienne for more then 30 years.
He now started a business of his own, he is located in the Netherlands.

PM me if you are interested..:-!

Thanks for the reply. The watch runs very fast. I've timed it at 57 seconds for one rotation of the second hand. That really adds up after a few hours.

Thanks but I'll try to keep it local.

moose, you're gonna love this one. On Friday I took delivery from the forum AD of the SM Pro 300 pictured here and an AT, size 42 with white dial and gold markings. Please note there are no pictures of that one.

That evening the AT died. I don't know if you are familiar with the AD, but he seems to be a very stand up guy. He offered to take it back in exchange for a blue dial, which I also expressed interest in OR to give me a credit if I utilized the warranty. I opted for the latter because my preference is for the white.

So with the significant initial discount and the credit I have a non-functioning brand new AT, really cheap. I also have a three year warranty which tomorrow gets called into play. Hopefully repairs will take less than 6 months to a year. We'll see. Pics to come when watch is 100%.

Glad it worked out for you. I've done business with him before and was most pleased. As stated, A stand up guy.
