I have a 2686 Abyss (pic below) and I'm thinking about putting a rubber or NATO strap on it. Do you guys think that would look ok or is that watch a little too "dressy", with its mother of pearl and polished steel, for a strap?

Anyone have a pic of one (or a similar Invicta) on a strap?

Here's the watch (pic stolen from discountwatchstore.com):

It would look just fine on a black NATO or rubber strap. Go for it! |>

If you want to go a little dressy, a nice sharkskin strap would look great too. ;-)

I have that same watch and it's one of my favorites. I put rubber straps on two of my standard Invicta divers because I wear them all summer long doing lawnwork, in the pool, etc. A good source for rubber straps is: http://stores.ebay.com/Thornton-Park-Watches_W0QQsspagenameZl2QQtZkm

Thanks for the replies everyone! I'm leaning toward a sportier look so what would you guys recommend, rubber or NATO-type? Also, I've never changed straps/bracelets on a watch, is it difficult to do without the specific tool?

My personal preference would be the ridged rubber because the nato type are pretty thin and the Abyss is a thick watch.

It's a piece of cake to change out bracelets/straps. All you need is a strap tool. I bought one from WatchRick for $5 or something like that.
It has something like a forked tongue on the end that grabs the spring bar and pulls it down so it comes out of the hole. Easy peasy.

I put NATOs on almost all of my divers. There's also recons, denim, lots of choices.

The right NATO strap can make your watch look very classy. I much prefer them over rubber in the "looks" department. ;-)

Here's my vintage Zodiac Sea Wolf on a "James Bond" NATO strap. Pretty nifty! :-D

This is my Classic 9937 on a brown leather strap.
This kind of strap looks great on a diver style watch.

The "specific tool" I use is a nice, lonely looking Russian fellow at a kiosk in a local mall near me.
He charges me 5$ , if anything at all, and likes to talk watches, so it's all good.
