Hi all,
I am considering purchasing either
a Steinhart Ocean 1 or GMT ocean 1.
I was hoping that I could get some feedback
from owners of these beautiful timepieces.
Thanks in advance.

You are talking about the regular Ocean, with the 2824 ( or is it Sellita now?) and the GMT version with the 2893 GMT movement, correct?

I own a Steinhart Ocean 1 GMT in a 39mm case and love it. The 39mm case with a lug-to-lug distance of 46mm is a perfect fit for me.
It is an exceptionally well made watch. Details such as tightly fitted end-pieces, well executed lettering, a precise screwdown crown, an easily fitted bracelet are but a few highlights. The ETA 2893-2 movement keeps excellent time.
The Ocean 1 is a dive style with a 60 minute bezel while the GMT has a 24 hour hand and rotatable 24 hour bezel. While the overall design is similar and they share some components the purpose of each watch is different. Do you have an interest in one style over the other?

I opted for the Ocean 1 because I favor a blue dial and the blue dialed/blue bezeled look of the Ocean 1, won me over.
I think they are both quality pieces so you can't go wrong. And I believe I read that the Ocean 1's are still using the ETA 2824-2 movements, for now.

I have both watches and am pleased with them both. They keep good time (gain about 8-10 secs per day) and the Ocean 1 seems to be the more accurate of the two. They are very solid time peices and certainly worth the $. :-!:-! I've looked at Rolexes and these watches seem much more substantial and feel heavier. I know the movements in these watches cannot match the ingenuity or quality seen in the Rolex watches (3135) but you get a good deal for the $. I prefer the GMT version for the second time zone capability but beyond that I would rate them equally. Just my 2 cents. :-! Mark

Thanks for all the info. I went with the GMT, Blk/Red Bezel Black dial.
I noticed The ETA 2893-2 GMT Movt has 21 Jewels
as opposed to the ETA 2824-2 that has 25 Jewels?
Not that it matters because I have been in search of
a swiss made watch with GMT complication for
some time. I am just curious why the GMT has
21 Jewels and the regular ETA 2824 has 25
jewels.
