Please help me decide I am torn between these two watches, tried them both on at the weekend and I still can't decide.

The wife is buying a watch for my birthday so have a budget of a about £3K.

I have been searching the forum and I'm still not sure which to one buy, I have untill August to decide.

Can you give me positives and negatives of each, by the way this will be my first decent watch.

I did have my heart set on the Omega Planet Ocean chrono, this was far too big for my 7" wrists, the dealer then brough these out for me to try and I loved both watches.

The dealer also gave me a copy of the Chronolog 08 and price list, I keep looking at both........... still I can't decide, I thought it would be easy to pick.

I should also notify you that this will be my only watch , so would have to go with smart and casual dress.

Hi,

The rrp of the BB is slightly higher than £3k (3750 I think).

I like the BBs brushed finish and oversized date personally, however there is a Chrono Evo with an added extra which should be with me soon.

Both watches are great!

Enjoy

Best

Hello,

Its Valjoux 7750 movement is much more rugged and reliable than the Blackbird's ETA 2894 modular chronograph movement.

In effect, the ETA is a layer cake of modules--at least two in the Blackbird's case: chronograph and large date display. With all the interface linkages required, there is too much clap trap; you're just asking for problems.

Mechanical Chronograph watches with integral movements (like the 7750) have enough annoying "idiosyncracies" on their own, no sense in compounding them.

Good luck with your choice.

Finally made a decision, went back to the dealer today and tried on both watches.

I prefer the look of the Blackbird and decided on purchasing it, then the dealer said a new range is coming out in April.

Have decided to wait until after April to see what Breitling have to offer then.

No doubt I will posting back again in April if something new in the lineup catches my eye.

Does anyone know how much the croc straps are for Blackbird, I saw some pictures of it whilst searching the forum?
