I'm a bracelet guy.. Always have been.
And I would never put a strap on my Legend, or on my recently aquired SMP.. Go ahead and shoot me for saying that :-d
But the Speedy Pro looks SO damn sexy on a strap all those pictures.. Especially on that Omega racing strap with the holes and on those Hirsch Leonardo's.. All those were the strap has curved ends and fits snugly to the case.

So, had to give it a fair shot! Today the Hirsch Leonardo Principal in dark brown arrived and the first impression : looks gooooood :-!
Now let's see whether I can get used to wearing it like this :

I'm going to find myself needing an Omega 18mm deployant very soon...

Nice strap really suits the Omega Speedmaster.

The more I see pictures of Speedy on a brown strap, the more I dig the combination. I always thought that mixing black and brown was a faux pas, but you guys may be changing my mind.

This worked for some people. The strap has a black texture on it.

It's good to see you giving a strap a try, Mark. That's just one of the great things about Speedy; you can change the look a hundred different ways, by just changing the strap.

I'd love to get my hands on a strap like yours, Rob. Very cool vintage look.

Looks good, Mark! :-!

We've seen the gold brown Hirsch Principe on your Speedy Pro, on Swiss Dade's 2254.50 and my "Great White":

2254.50 with Leonardo Principe Strap (http://forums.watchuseek.com/showthread.php?t=135651)

I'm beginning to believe that the strap will work on most any watch.

Thanks :)

Oh and thanks for your tip on which hole to use in the insert (some other thread, can't remember which one), saved me a lot of work!
Mine is actually not the gold brown but the dark brown (second from the left) :

Unfortunately my picture is to salty to make the colour show properly..

This is an $8 leather band I got off one of ebay's popular strap guys. I think his name was Rick or Rich, but he hasn't been on ebay for months.

I'm loving this strap on my Speedmaster. I'm looking at getting a couple more for other watches. I'd put a deployant on it, but strap is too long for my wrist without punching another hole.

Whoops, sorry about that little word there.. Its so common in my own language that I tend to forget its still possibly offensive in the English from which it came.. My bad! :-)

Great looking straps guys. Can't beat a Speedy on a strap.
The Hirsch looks good with the curved and fitted ends.

Kind of a higher rent version of the guy you used to see on Times Square selling watches.

Come on, Uncle Jim. Aren't you going to send me one of those Speedies? Do you really need so many? I'll even take one on that yellow strap we all know you pulled out of the trash. Pweeze!

I used to think of myself as a bracelet guy as well, but slowly my collection has been sporting more and more leather as the years go by. The main culprit I'm afraid was actually my Omega SMP, the bracelet on it is in my opinion a work of art and as comfortable as I have ever had. All others pale by comparison.

My Speedy was a relatively recent purchase. I walked into the AD with my mind set on walking out with a bracelet model but then he went on and did something that changed my mind, he showed me the one below, which he had just received and wasn't even out for display. Sorry about the crappy photo but all I have on me at the moment is my camera-phone. I'll post a better photo later if you like.

I ended up paying a bit more but the combination of the leather, the black face of the speedy, and the convenience of the deployant clasp sealed the deal for me. I have a Dynamic Chrono (currently at the NJ service center for service) :-( with a similar strap but with a regular clasp and I cannot recommend the deployant enough. It will save a lot of wear and tear on the strap and just simplifies things.

Well, here is hoping you enjoy your new combination as much as I have enjoyed mine. Congrats! :-!

... I always thought that mixing black and brown was a faux pas, but you guys may be changing my mind.

Black and brown go very well together, whether as shoes-to-pants or straps-to-dial. It's a sophisticated look; stylish and masculine. Brown with black suggests refinement and class, reserved for men who understand the balance between subtlety and complexity. You'll never see a boy dressed like this. Young, inexperienced men rarely feel comfortable and confident doing so, either.

Black and brown, among other coordinated effects, are strictly a gentleman's domain. May you wear yours in the best of health.

Sincere Regards,
Jeremy

Hmmmm.. I think my plan to get the original Omega deployant for this strap (as can be read here that the Hirsch Leonardo works well with the clasp) might be a problem.. The holes in the strap are not round but like this :

Is that going to work ?? :-s
