View Full Version : Vintage Ball Wrist - A little assistance

A customer sent in a vintage Ball wrist for repair and there is a doubt as to the hands. The watch is a steel model, manual wind - movement caliber 1604B and it has a stark white face, arabic numerals and a red sweep second hand. This hand looks good to me as it has a small triangle about 40% toward the tip. The tail end has a little ball. The hour and minute hands don't look right as they are very plain, thick stick hands, painted (and not well) black.
Does anyone have some images that they could share showing what hands might have been on this particular watch or other models of similar design that would assist me in locating the right hands? It would be appreciated. I'll try to post an image of this one tomorrow or so.
Thanks in advance.

Attached is a link to a image of a vintage Ball. I am assuming this is what you have. This is what the hand should be on the watch. Hope this helps, CCO

Funny you should use that image as that is from my inventory. As I thought, the second hand was right. Were there any variations of hour and minute hands that I should look at too?
Thanks,

I have one of the one I linked images. I showed it to a Ball Rep at my local AD, a few weeks back, and he said it appears to be original. Also, all the pictures I have seen look just like mine. If the watch looks like the images, I would say is original. You can do some searches on the 'bay too and see various Ball watches and their looks. I believe vintage Balls do not have much of a a variation. Most I see are just like the image, other then different cases. CCO

If you should ever get a pair of hands like that, please let me know. I have the movement, dial and case but am missing the hands.
Thanks
