The case seems to be folded rather than turned and as you can see the watch is a module that presses into the case.
Any ideas on dates etc? I have seen the movement but I don't want to risk opening it at home as its almost definatly radiium and the glass has to come off to get the back off and also, you need some fine tweezers to remove the crown first http://www.tz-uk.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_eek.gif
Thanks and sorry for all the pics...

I believe these had the rectangular movement ticking inside (cal 302).
These were designed to have increased waterproofness and I thnk you need to remove the stem first (its a split stem) then the crystal and then the movement comes out. My guess is the watch is from the 1950's

Its a round movement, a 30t2. (I think) I didn,t have time to get the serial numbers and don't want to risk taking the crown off myself as I don't have the correct tools.

What is the diameter of the inner case?

Well in that case its unlikely that you have a 30T2 in there. The 30T2 is 30mm in diameter. With the additional thickness of the case that would add 2.5-3mm, bringing the diameter to 32.5-33mm. I might be wrong, but the only way to gain more information would be to see the movement.
Its about 31mm.

Thanks Joe, Its certainly a round movement. I don't know how to remove the stem from the case to get the inner part off but a local watchmaker did have a look for me. I am going to see him again tomorrow to pick up a few watches (vintage connie among others) and will see if he can have another look. I'll take my camera and try to get a shot of it.
I do remember the inner case being very thin. It looks like its stamped from stainless sheet.
Thanks again

No problem. It would be very interesting to know what ticks inside. Maybe if you take a digital camera with you the watchmaker he can take a picture. Of course we look forward to pictures of all the other watches as well :-!:-!
The stem is likely a split stem. This means it is made of to parts that snap together. You can use a fork like tool to remove the stem, but best leave this to the watchmaker.

I would say from the mid forties, with calibre 30 T2.

Well, it is a Cal 30t2. I couldn,t take a pic at the time but will do when I get another chance. I very robust movement according to my watch repair chap.
I also picked up a very tidy Constellation. All stainless with a Cal 551.

Thanks for the info. :-! It is a very robust movement and was a mainstay of Omega for decades.
Very nice Constellation. Looking at the pictures of the movement - you will see the cal number which is 551.

Looks like two winners to me!
It is so difficult to find dials from the 1940's in that state of preservation. I'd love to see a picture of that movement. A quick Google search helped me find this movement from a similar watch

It's a 26,5mm movement, which looks an awful lot like the 30T2. I'm with Joe, in that the math doesn't work to squeeze a 30mm movement into a 31mm inner case. My understanding is that it's just as good at the 30T2.
However, I've learned never to say never when it comes to vintage Omega.
Enjoy them both,

P.S - I've never seen an Omega bag like that before. Very interesting! :-!
