Can we just stop dredging up old polls.

Jeez, right now we have the old SeMP vs Submariner Poll, both of which are dicountinued watches, and the Blue vs Black Seamaster Poll, both are discountinued.

I mean I like polls (hell, I even like Luthawanians) but these old polls are driving me crazy.Am I the only one out here?

Been discussed many times. If people would put an end date on them, they would go away. If not, they seem to have a half life similar to uranium 216.

What's a Luthawanian?..........Lithuanians?

:-d

Back to the topic, I do agree. I find it funny when folks start leaving posts to very old posts after one person brings up a question that was talked about ages ago. Half the time, the original poster they're asking is not aware or even around anymore.

We did have a discussion of this a while back and the consensus was that when a poll is created, there should be a reasonable time limit put on it.

We had been doing a really good job keeping the polls under control, but sometimes, someone will tear through and bump a bunch of oldies.

As we discussed before, setting a time limit is highly recommended and, for the last few months, I've been adding a time limit to new polls that didn't already have one, as well as old ones, when their resurrected. I think it's been helping, some, anyway.

I'm happy to set up a poll to ask if we have .... um .... too many polls....

I agree too Don. I also think we have too many quotes where people haven't bothered to remove the picture (if one was in the post to start with!). You end up looking at the same picture maybe three, four or five times in a post. And while we are at (complaining that is!), why did KFC stop making the Zinger Twister o|

Should have created on a POLL on this thread. Should you or should you not be mandated to put a end date on polls.

Call me crazy but...

Wouldn't that pretty much end the poll?

The issue comes up because a vote in a poll bumps the thread to the top of the forum. It doesn't have to be a comment, just a vote.

I think it's fine to revisit an old thread, if someone wishes to contribute a new comment or add some insight, but it's probably not worth just adding a vote.

So, for that reason, the threads remain unlocked, but the poll is closed.

I like polls AND the comments. It gives me insight on the watches most are interested in. We should have a time limit on polls. Then, we can just start another/new one with updated comments.
