Hi all,

I purchased a new Zulu 2-ring strap for my Phantom. However, I'm having a heck of a time removing the bracelet. The screws are really tight, and I'm not sure what to try to loosen them up. Any thoughts? I'll post some pics once the new strap is on. Thanks in advance.

Use some pressure, as I am sure there is a little bit of locktite on them from the factory. Make sure you have the correct sized screwdrivers. Use some tape around the lugs if you are worried about scratches, and take your time.

I'm usijng small eyeglass screwdrivers. Are there more appropriate tools that I should be using? If so, where can I get them? Thanks.

I would get some watchmakers screwdrivers. Here is a good selection:

Greetings

You could try my method. The K1200 Circular saw comes with a metal cutting disc.

Saw the phantom in half. Call Kobold Customer Service, the best around, and explain the damage to your new watch.

Michael stands behind his products. Pack both parts carfully and send for warranty repair.

Be sure to ask them if they would not mind changing the strap while they have it.

This should work.

Best of luck

Bear,

Now that's orginal... and I think my wife laughed harder than I did. :-! Seriously, I bought a couple of small screwdrivers at Lowe's and they did the job perfectly. And the zulu 2-ring looks really great on my Phantom. I'm going to try to snap a few pics tomorrow and post them.

Hi Scott. That's great! Good Job. As I got into collecting I found it most useful to get a few tools for band changes. As the noble Sellnit will tell you, the bands are the fun part. I agree with the others; get yourself a good jeweler's screwdriver set, and a pin tool. If you start getting more watches, you can deal with both types of strap attachment: pins and screws.

Good luck with your Phantom, great watch. Late at night I put mine on, put on fatigues and sneak around the house.

Kobold makes a great watch for the overachiever. I tried to talk Michael into producing a watch for the under achiever, average Joe type, beer-proof, stays on the couch, etc, and he comes up with the SMG! Not what I was thinking.

Cheers

I am a big watch fan. However, I'm one of the rare catch-and-release types. I am really tempted to get a few more watches but I have the distinct impression that my wife will beat me to death with the next watch I buy.

Thanks for the great advice. I am now considering a Delaurain strap, probably the Black Widow. Must... resist...the...urge....:-!

Go for it. I have one on my SEAL and it really adds to the watch.
