I have been waiting for the delivery of my new (old) SM300 for about that last week.
It arrived today from over the desert and across the pond; here are some quick pics:

So here are my questions:
Leave it as is or send it in to be refurbished?
Leave the bezel or replace it?
Strap (bracelet) suggestions?

I'd start with a new bezel and perhaps new hands, to make the lume all the same.

Nice old beauty. The lume on the dial is still great!
I would probably send it off to Bienne for the full treatment. They'll have it looking brand new.
How does it run?

You did good :-!
I would not send this to Omega - There are plenty of parts and people who can do the job. I would have the watch serviced and only have the bezel and crystal changed. As for the bracelet, I would get a 1171, which was on of the bracelets that came with this watch. Again, these are easy to source. Drop me a PM if you would like the name of someone who will do a good job.

That lume shot is a great testament to Omega lume if original.

Congratulations. Thats a nice pickup and will make a nice addition to your collection. I would change the bezel though and have the crystal polished if its not cracked (can't really tell from the pic).
I'd get the full refurbishment. - David

My big question would now be, to get that fully restored, would it basically end up being new Omega parts (like a Watchco SM300)?

Yes - that would be my thinking too......and probably cost just as much...

Thanks for all of the opinions and I am not sure exactly what I am going to do in the long run; however, for now I am just going to wear it (alot).
Down the road I think I may replace the bezel and put it on a mesh bracelet. In the meantime I have an 1171, so I may put that on for awhile.
It's nice to have choices!
Thanks again for all of the help,

Actually, looking at prices, probably a lot more.

Very Nice !!:-!
If it was mine, I'd wear it as it is until it needs a service and then decide. I'd replace the hands and bezel and refinish the case at that time.

What a beauty :-p
I would be tempted to leave as is or only do the bezel and crystal.
The dial, hands and case look great to me. I think it would lose character if you sent it off for the full refurb.

Nice one Commish! That's my next watch. Whereabouts do you live?
Nah, just kidding. I'll get one like it, instead.

Great find, Scott. I generally like to see things as original as possible, but I'd probably change out the hands and bezel, to even it out. It'll look great, either way, really, so you can't lose.

Thanks for the input and I too am torn between originality and refurbishment (probably bezel and hands in the future); however, one thing that is liberating is to have a nice watch and not having to worry about it too much while its on the wrist.
