When I bought my Datora from an AD, I received a "welcome to Breitling" note and a Breitling hat in a Breitling box.

When I bought my Skyracer from an AD, I received a "welcome to Breitling" note and a Breitling hat in a Breitling box.

I thought with the second purchase, I might have graduated to something else. Am I mistaken or did Breitling make an error (I moved between purchases, but I did not change my name).

Nope. Sometimes that happens. We never know what the Breitling Gods will bestow on us. Sometimes it is more of the same. Third times a charm?

I received a hat with my Superocean and a multi use knife with my Colt, I have no idea what is up next for the Skyland. My Ad also gave me a ligter cover which is pretty cool, but I do not smoke.

Is there any reason why BUSA give stuff out and yet the suppliers over here in the UK are so tight? Is it Breitling policy or just a case of tight AD's over here?

It's a policy of Breitling USA, the importer, to give out gifts to new owners. I don't believe it is a policy of any other importer, since I only hear of American owners reporting (or complaining about) the free gifts they receive. They do a good job; I get the impression that the majority of Breitling owners here think that "Breitling" sent them something, not Breitling USA.

I once asked Breitling in the UK why they did not give out free gifts. Aside from the fact that Breitling UK is just an import company not owned by Breitling (whereas BUSA is owned by Breitling), the idea seems to be that owners should develop relationships with the dealer, not the importer. As it happens, the small AD I bought a Breitling from a few years ago has since offered extra discounts and other freebies since, some of which are equally useful and valuable.

Buy from a private equity-owned chain, though, as most do, and you'll get sod-all.

I was pleasantly surprised when I got a hat in the mail yesterday. Now I really feel special.

I actually got my hat yesterday too, along with a nice "thank you" note.

I had a similar thing happen. Bought my B-2 at one address and my Airwolf at another. Got hats both times.
