I am looking to buy an in-expensive case opener set. I need to be able to open a SEIKO (a "5" to be specific) and an Alpha (modeled very precisely after Rolex - including the caseback). I'd like something that is as 'full proof' as possible (i.e. designed such that it's hard to scratch the case with it) yet IDEALLY not more than $20+ delivered.

I was wondering if anybody has had any experience with this particular set (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8939024448&fromMakeTrack=true).

Other suggestions welcome of course.

Thank you,
Michael

Hi Michael,

Canīt judge the quality of the tool set you are refering too.

The tools I have (most of them Bergeon) are "paying in another league". I canīt help you though, maybe the Affordable Forum is the place to go.

If you want to make sure you didnīt scratch the back of your watches make sure the handling of the tool and the tool itself is ok for you.

www.ofrei.com is a good site to get informed.

Although you will be able to open the Seiko case with the shown tools, you have a near 100% guarantee to scratch your Alpha/RLX-type case with it. For RLX-type casebacks youīll need a significantly larger, stationary caseback opener, which price easily exceeds the price of you watch! Sorry for that, but thatīs Rolex for you...
