I closed a deal with one of our forum members, bmil128, earlier this week and I agreed to buy his speedy reduced.

If you remember bmil128 bought a classic Speedmaster Pro and thus sold his Speedmaster Reduced to me for a very reasonable price. I'll close the transaction this weekend and bmil128 agreed to kindly ship my watch all the way to Australia [was advertised as US shipping only].

bmil128 gained a speedmaster pro
anonymousmoos gain a speedmaster reduced

Here are some picture he took for me:

Look like a replica.

No boxes/cards/serial number/original receipt/cancelled check/CC receipt?

Just kidding. Good looking Speedy.

About time. Welcome to the club:-!

I know your kidding but I did want a box and papers originally but for the price I got it for [which is very fair], and knowing it came from someone who did actually use it and isn't a watch dealer, sealed the deal.

I'm probably gotta buy a box and instruction book for it after market.

Seller says its 5+ per day. I factored in a regulating and/or service into the price, just in case.

My first Automatic... joy.

I actually had to sit down AM. Congrats! Enjoy it!
I'm glad the forum talked you into the Speedy and out of your
indecision. I don't think you'll be sorry.
Looks like that little thread worked well as you'll soon have
the reduced. Its a nice chrono that runs well and should
give you years of trouble free service.
Sorry to have to use the oldest trick in the book on you,
but you bit, and now look...................its on its way.
Good luck!

Cheers Jim, dont give yourself too much credit. ;-) It came more down to good fortune and timing. With the house finished I was really hungry for one. And I could finally sit down and do proper searches. I've only been in my new job for less then two months, and I did say I was gonna buy the speedy as a 'reward'.

Thats when I posted that now infamous thread were I got a hammering. If this one didnt come along, I'd still be looking.

If you see me asking and posting PO threads, dont wait for me to get one, probably still a year + off. But then again, at the Health Department lots of staff are leaving... maybe the PO will come sooner then I think...

As for the oldest trick in the book, I'm reading it too, but I gotta admit, your many chapters ahead then I am.

Couldn't agree more. I guess our population doesnt sustain much of a pre-owned marker here. My first Omega [SMP Pro Quartz] was from an Aussie ebay seller but all other have been from overseas.

Last time I was in Perth CBD I did see a small pre-owned watch shop, but it was closed. I bet you wont find any bargains there though, dealers need to hike up prices to make it worth their while. I prefer to buy off private owners.

OK to a speedy newb, whats the difference between the reduced and the pro?

The Speedmaster Pro is larger, has a lote more history behind it and I think a different movement. I think you gotta wind the pro but its smaller brother the reduced, winds by wrist movement.

I like the reduced cause I'm a thin guy and have skinny wrists. Plus the pro cost $800 - $1000 more, pre-owned.

I'm really glad that you got the watch you wanted. It looks great. Try it on a Hirsch kevlar strap - they are not too pricey and they really suit the watch.

Congratulations AM.

Thanks, I will need to find a stap for it to give it a change of shoes every now and then. I'm more of a leather strap fan.

Anyone know what size strap I need for a reduced? 18mm? 20mm? Would it by any chance be the same size as my SMP [full size]?

Also, now that I have a few Omega's, what tool do you guys recommend for changed bracelets and straps? I wasn't to be able to change them safely without making scratches.

It's an 18mm so I'm afraid not - there is a burgeon spring clip remover which does the job nicely. Enjoy playing!
