Hey all,
Thanks for the help, decided to go with the Omega afterall and changed my order today, however I learned in speaking with the dealer that the watch is on backorder, and I am number five on the list.
I also mentioned that I wanted to get it before they discontinue the model, to which he replied that there were no plans he was aware of to discontinue it, and he also mentioned the MSRP of the new Cal 8500 model and said that he really couldn't see Omega only offering that as the price was really high.
So stinks that I won't get the piece before my new job starts monday, but glad I finally made that choice, and excited to get the new watch.

You went with the blue hands. Excellent choice, Mathew. That's my favorite of the ATs.

It's a beautiful watch. I desperately want a Speedmaster Pro to go with my SMP, but I may very well end up with another Seamaster, and the AT with the blue hands is the leading contender.

Hey man, Neil is right, I need some justification to my complaints about Rolex and the Sub is my last in :)
In all honesty, my hope is the AT works out so well that I can wear that all of the time and then move the sub along for something like a saph sandwhich speedy for weekends or what not, or I am waiting to see what they do with the caliber 8500 and a sports watch.

Hi Mathew,
I think it's an excellent thing that you won't have that ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS watch on your wrist when you clock in for the first time on Monday. Let the folks get to know who you are...then hopefully by the time that Red Box of Joy arrives, they will like you already AND be happy for you. Ahh...team bonding exercises  Kiwichick sends you a hesitant, wait til I see the pics Congratulations.

got one of those.. nice strap - looks completely different in the sig line though... side on and the light makes it look thicker/fatter - or perhaps its wet and absorbed a few pints of beer

Wow thanks for all the pictures guys, went out today cause my wife mentioned the all blue dial was nice too, saw it in person with her and we both decided that it was just too dark. The cream/white with blue is still the best choice :) I liked the one with the rose markers too but she thought that one wasn't as nice, I really value her opinon on matters like this cause she has some good taste :)

Thanks, I went to look at them all yesterday and had alot of hope for this one, however in person it just didn't do much for me, looked a little plan. Nice watch, just didnt grab me, my wife liked it the least of all of them.

That was my take, too, Matthew. The blue/cream really stood out for me. Interestingly, so did the black dial.

Damn it Eric, he FINALLY decided on the white dial/blue hands. Now you go and mention a black dial. If I get a PM from Mathew asking what I think about the black dial .... I'm coming for you. :-d - David

Sorry, sorry. You don't want the black, Matthew. It's no good. Boring. It's kinda shiny, though, and that's cool. You like the black dial, David?

no, the black dial is soooo pedestrian. Clearly the white dial is the way to go. - david

Nice watch the Aqua Terra,
White and blue FTW.
are these available in the mid-size? I have found all the ather colours but not the blue.
I'm tempted to change my order from a Constellation (1501.51) to a Terra mid size (as long as they come in white & blue)

I really like the look of those for a modern Omega but is it just me or has anyone else noticed that they seem to suffer from SHS ? (short hand syndrome)
The minute hand just doesn't reach the edge of the indices.
Would look far better with a longer minute hand.

Hey Eric,
I really liked the black dial as well, and if I didn't already have a black dial watch and want some diversity then I probabily would have given it more thought. My wife liked the blue dial in pictures but then when we both saw it IRL it seemed really really dark and there would be no point in getting it over the black (unless you really love blue), had it been more of an SMP blue then I might have liked that better.
I also liked the silver dial but again I had a silver dial watch in the past, and while I liked the silver AT it looks like alot of other silver dial watches to me, plus it seemed like the hands tended to blend into the face.
My two favorites were the black and the white/blue...the gloss of the black was awesome and the blue hands/markers on the white face are to me unique.

Neil,
I can only guess this is because of the space around the dial where they put the lume, any longer of minute hands and the hour makers would no longer be visible.
My take is that as it stands the hands are fine, but if they reconfig'd the dial to lose that space around it then it would look short. But I haven't heard anyone say the watch has this short hand problem before, at least not like the Longines I was looking at but that was due to the inner bezel.

I really like the AT. I am interested in the new ones introduced at Basel as well. Does anyone know if they have hit dealers yet? The black Bond is in (there is a thread about it, gorgeous watch) but I'm anxious to see the new AT.

There's no white/blue AT equivalent in the new line is there? A shame, I like the numerals around the side (as shown below to the right), and I think a 2503.33 equivalent of that would look tops.

I have tried on some of the new ATs and they will only be available in a grey dial and a silver dial. The grey has more of a 'slate' shade to it. The 'boat-deck' pattern is a nice touch, but I can't say the 0-60 numbering around the inside of the dial thrills me. However, at 38.5mm, these are a very nice size for this type of watch. The bracelet links are slightly thicker (although 21mm between the lugs means that you can't retro-fit this bracelet onto a current AT, dang it!) and there are screws in the bracelet instead of pins. Omega have also done away with that annoying sliding clasp thingy, thus making for a sturdier clasp. New markers on the dial, too.
And, of course, the in-house Cal 8500 Co-Axial. It will be a nice watch, but I still prefer the overall look of my current AT.

I went through the same thing, liking all of the dials on the AT. But when I saw the white/blue combination, it just popped for me. I thought it was far easier to read than the others. It also works very well with a blue croc strap for more formal occasions. I have had mine for three years and still love it.
cheers,
Phil
