Spent the weekend visting my godchildren and the Goodwood Festival of Speed. For those who don't know it, Lord March, who's got a spacious little home and large garden (!) holds a festival for motorsport enthusiasts each year and invites as many differet cars as possible. Its timing, one week after the British Grand Prix, means that there's usually a good show of current F1 cars along with WRC, Le Mans, British Touring Cars, NASCAR, Indy, and many many historic cars. They've even built the Wacky Races cars! And they're not fenced off miles away, you can wander round the paddocks and get really close to all but the very latest stuff, and even the F1 cars are only a couple of feet away.

Anyway, to keep on topic, here's the Breitling sponsored Bentley Le Mans winner from 2003 in the paddock and at the top of 'the Hill' after one of its runs.

There was also only the second UK display by the Airbus A380 - if you're interested I'm just heading over to the 'aviation photography' forum to post some pics. If you're interested I'll post some more car pics when I've resized them.

Thankfully we were luckier than you RIAT guys with the weather - sorry guys, bad luck. :-(

Great pics of a Great car. Now how come Bentleys cars are so far from its production cars? Porsches Spyders and the GT3 Cup cars are alot closer to what I drive than the Bentley Continental GT Speed.
Still Nice car!!!

One of my close friends was on the design and engineering team for that car, and was given one of the BB24 ltd watches which he sold for his CAm1o|

Still the pics are great Rik and glad you got there in the end,

Lou,

Six and a half hours on the way up, four and a half on the way back! Coming back was muh better. Fancy selling a LE watch for a car you helped design?! Still, takes allsorts and if the new watch made him happier . .

Couple more pics mainly because, with my new SLR, I get a bit snap happy - took about 350 pics on the day. I just LOVE digital!

For our friends over the pond

The F1 safety car, I love hearing this thing ruble off the grid at each race, it sounds lovely.

But this is Goodwood and the Course Director can't be seen in something as common as an AMG Merc . . . !

Lord March's house (it keeps the rain off your head!) with the Land Rover Sculpture. Those are full size vehicles mind, though they looked like they may have been plastic replicas? I'm not sure.

For an interesting look around the house type 'lampkin goodwood house' into the youtube search box and watch Dougie Lampkin ride his trials bike up through the house. Brilliant!

(No more car pics now, promise)

Thanks, Rik, for sharing all these stunning pics !

I do like the Bentley Le Mans, it's a real beast...
Lord March's sculpture looks mad.
I think I might feel more comfy into the mansion...That classical 2 levels building seems magnificent !

Cheers,
Brice

Nice pics Rik :-!

Sadly I wasn't there this year - first one i've missed in 11 years. I did 600 plus pics in a day there too. Thank heavens for SDHC memory cards.
Were there any great prototypes out for the first time? Love to see more pics. Thanks for sharing them.
