Just picked this watch up from the repair place... it was doing random stopping. The guy found something broke in it, but he was not there when I picked it up, so the people there did not know exactly what was wrong, but mentioined something about a jewel. I will call him when he's in and find out what exactly is wrong.

Oh yeah, whatever the part is, it is not made anymore.

I bough this watch off eBay a few weeks ago, so there is no sentimental connection to it, but it is a beautiful watch.

What are my options? I know I don't know exactly what is wrong, so hard for ya'll to give info on, but could I find a parts watch, or is there someone that can fabricate parts for these watches?

Thanks

Jerrod

Cracked jewel? Should be replaceable and the jewels for Waltham are around if you find the right watchmaker.
I had a pocket watch that wouldn't run well until I got a new pallet assembly for it. I was lucky in that it was a very generic Elgin movement.
No parts are made any more for Waltham as they've been out of business for over 50 years. However there are still lots of spare parts out there. It can be a crapshoot though. You might be able to find a similar model you can cannibalize for parts.
I think we need to hear a better diagnosis before we can advise you though. If you have to get into making parts it gets really expensive and probably not justified.

ok, chatted with the repair guy this morning and found out what was the problem.... seems the balanace jewel is cracked/bad.

He called all his places in Texas, and (these are his words), all the old guys that actually know anything are gone. LOL The new guys don't know anything.

Anyway, he says there are two types of Colonial, one from the turn of the century, and the other (like mine) that is later. They sent him a couple of the earlier ones, but those don't work.

He put me down in his book, so if he gets a movement in, he'll let me know... I'm gonna dig around on eBay and see what's available, or does someone know of a contact I could get one from?

oh, serial# is 21943779

You could try this guy:

or:

It's ironic, but sometimes it's easier to get stuff for an older watch because they made so many more of them. More parts around as well.

Would this movement work for parts:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=290250309444

They look the same, but I know that does not necessarily make them the same.

It might. Same grade as your watch.
