I am looking for your input on what options I have for buying my first Panerai. I will be trading my 2004 Rolex Sub Serti two tone...

I was hoping you might suggest the top 5 models, maybe more, for me to consider. I like larger diameter, see through backs (would consider a diver), GMT, ec..

I would estimate the value of my Rolex to be in the $6000 plus or minus area.

Thank you for your suggestions.:-!

Hi LIG, welcome to the forum! Happy to see another WIS joining the Paneristi ranks soon!

There are dozens of beautiful models to choose from. So perhaps you should narrow down your choice by listing preferences. The subs are robust models, but have steel casebacks. As with the GMTs.

Are you looking at the historic or contemporary models? For a first PAM, you can never go wrong with a base (like the 005 and 000) or the Luminor ...... historics, the most popular one being the 111. These are all 44 mms. So if you like display backs, why not visit your local AD and try on the historic lines.

And do not discount the Radiomir models either - there are some great looking selection to choose from, such as the 210, 183 (Black Seal) and 190 (8 days). The diameter is bigger than the Luminor collection mentioned above at 45 mm, but you'll find the case slimmer so it might actually wear smaller. A lot of Paneristis find them dressier too.

No matter what you choose, you can never go wrong with a PAM! ;-) Go with what makes you happy! I find that when trying on watches, there's always that one model that I keep going back to (it calls my name...). You'll know.

Good luck with the search, and keep us posted! :-!
