My fiancee wants to buy me a new watch as an engagement present, and I am really keen on this model

I am wondering if this is a good place to buy from, and if this is a good price? I live in Calgary, Alberta and any place around here has them for $2300 and above. Can anyone ele recommend onother vendor that will ship to Canada.
Thanks.

They are not an authorized dealer. The price is OK.
I would check with the forum AD. That way you are covered by the Omega warranty :-!

I'm kinda new to all of this...do you have to buy from an "authorized" dealer? Like I said, all the places locally want like $2300 or so?!

Hi Fabian, A few points. First, the dealer you linked to is not an AD but rather a gray market dealer. The topic of Gray market has been discussed here on the forum dozens of times. So if you search for this you will find out what the pros and cons are.
If you are going to buy a new watch - why not try an AD first and see what kind of a price they can offer you. You might be able to get a great price and have the relative peace of mind that you get from buying from a factory authorized dealer. Many of us buy from an AD here in the US. If you search the forum you will find a thread where you can ask for contact information. That said, keep in mind that when shipping to Canada you will need to pay customs. This might make the whole endeavor not worthwhile. Perhaps there are Canadian ADs who can offer a good price. I don't know the answer to that, but perhaps some of our Canadian members could chime in ?

The vendor says it comes with all the required papers, but I would contact the internet vendor & find out if it comes with the serial number intact on the case lugs. If it doesn't then you may have a bit of hassle getting it serviced after 4 or 5 years through an AD. Unless you don't mind taking the risk of getting it serviced through an independant watchmaker.

Your best bet is to buy off of eBay from a REPUTABLE seller and pay the applicable duties and taxes associated with importing. Finding an AD in Canada that is on par with the Americans is not an option considering they still like gouge us up here (Even when our dollar was stronger ). Even by paying all the taxes and duties it's still a hell of a lot cheaper buying south of the border. Hope this helps.

That's a good point. If it's quartz then why not just buy it from the cheapest source possible even if grey. It's only going to need new batteries in servicing & maybe gaskets. If it was mechanical then that's a bigger risk.
