View Full Version : Why did you choose your WUS user name and why?

OZZIE
June 29th, 2006, 11:19
With me it started when I started selling on EBay..

Besides the obvious as I am an Aussie, I wanted OZZIE as an EBay user name.

Unfortunately it was taken on EBay, so I chose OZZIEJAPAN.

This was because I used to live in Japan and wanted to relate back to Australia so OZZIE was the perfect choice:-D

How about you:-D

Well, Timothy is my given name and Patrick was the name of my older brother who died when I was just a baby. He wasa year older than me. I don't have any memories of him so I took his name to keep his memory alive.

Rest in Peace and see you sooner or later Big Bro!!:-)

Sjors
June 29th, 2006, 13:43
Sjors is my Nickname, but everybody, even some family call me that way. I have not an easy real name. Lots of people at my work don't even know my real name. Actually, most don't know my last name too. I had once forget to turn of a water crane. I went to work and the water was flooding though our kitchen, down the stirs into the Café, where I lived above. When they called to my work, they asked for my last name..... Gald for them they had the beer celler had a door in the floor to my appartment...

I have also a lot of aliases I use for my bands I play in, where I juggle with my birth names:-) In my 110 Volt Lovers Band they call my Kid Chaos, because I never end up in tidy places and I 'm the only one that kan find things back:-D

Cheers,

Sjors

Snowback
June 29th, 2006, 15:54
Mine came from work. I've been called a "snowback" since I came from Canada & work here in the US. The guys at work figure that if you come from Mexico to the US, you are called a "wetback", so if you're from up North, ... You figure it out.

June 29th, 2006, 18:11
well, i spent most of my vacation time while in school traveling in baja, mexico with my family. my mom was a teacher and my dad was self-employed, so we had lots of free time. christmas, easter, summer, presidents birthdays, etc. its just where I'd rather be than sitting here right now. i know the whole baja penninsula like the back of my hand. it's a wonderful place.:-) mike s.

My name is Michael,or Mike for short. My roommate knew that I am an avid mountain biker... One day, while in college,he called me by the name Mountainbike, but I didn't answer him cause I was riding my bike to the labs... Later, back home,he modified it into MountainMike,i.e. replacing the "B" with "M" instead. That's how I got my nickname!

For the love of moutain biking! Yeah!:-)

June 29th, 2006, 18:48
My surname (some call it last name, some call it family name) is Wong and some English colleagues I had many years back started calling me wongster for the fun of it :-!

Since then, wongster has been very helpful ;-) :-D :-!

Sjors

Reminds me of the beginning, I didn't realize there was no r. I hope after those countless red r's in the quotes, you have forgiven me;-)

MountainMike,

Cool, another Mountainbiker on the Forum. Which bike do you ride???

about 4 years ago I went through a very rough time in my life, losing a loved one, then suffering thru depression.

After counseling, and help from my church, and some great medication...I feel like I was re-born.

So I consider myself the new version... Mike 2.0...hence mike2zero.

June 29th, 2006, 19:35
A lot have people have figured out that my name comes from "the only band that matters", The Clash. It was a song off of their triple sided album "sandinista." The name was chosen mainly because you never run across another versionpardner when registering anywhere so there is no need for versionpardner1 etc. Plus the clash is one of my favorite bands of all time.

there's a simular thread in the cafe section (but that's for the greater WUS) ;-)

my first car was a 1990 Toyota Corolla GTS (chasis code: AE92), it stayed pretty much stock (no mod) through out most of its life (maybe little mod here or there, nothing major)

i started using the login for automotive forums, and i have been using it ever since

4AGE (red top high comp) :gold <-- for those that do understand B-)

Pretty simple for me ;-) .

oldspice
June 29th, 2006, 19:52
Great thread! Here's my contribution:

It's a long and somewhat boring story, but in college the girlfriend of one of my housemates noticed that my deodorant was pretty strong one day. It happen to be Oldspice deodorant at the time, so we had a laugh about Oldspice in general and it sort became our little inside joke.

Then, I had a radio show with a friend of mine and we decided it would be fun to make up "radio names". For some reason, we called my friend Sparky and we settled on Oldspice for me. So, the Sparky and Oldspice show was born.

It's sort of stuck since then, all those many years ago. Lame, I know, but there you go. ;-)

Spill
June 29th, 2006, 20:52
When I was an undergrad, a friend of mine called me Spillboy. We were talking ,via e-mail, about mountain biking together and wanted to get into shape before we tackled any big mountains. I asked her what shape, she said a blob and signed her e-mail Blobgirl. I asked if I could be Blobboy and she said no you're Spillboy and I liked it so much I started using it on the internet. Eventually I lost the boy part and now use Spill on every forum I visit. It kind of fits me since I am clumsy and tend to make messes whereever I go.

Last year I went to this forum with a name: Eternatick that is also my eBay seller id (still now). On Angelo Website he has the reversal display 5600 project with my name. I hope Sjors and Ozzie still remember me?

I changed ISP and could not retrieve my lost password ...then had to created a new id name: Asuoab . Why the nick name is look weird? Because I did another "reversal display" my email.

(You can discover my email at: http://216.70.133.92)

Thanks Ozzie for the great great question!

PS: Because I repaired and sold vintage mechanical wrist-watches on eBay. I wanted my vintage watches ticking forever, then I came up with the name Eternatick.

Oz,
I remember some old eBay usernames, when I first contacted you about that yellow Ultimate Force!

My username comes from my love of solar g-shocks! In fact, for a while, I only kept solar models...then I gave in for some reason, maybe the MRG's, and haven't looked back!

Neil -

Your user name is excellent and so appropriate in relation to.

My original EBay user name was G-Shock japan but I don't think CASIO Europe liked it as they reported me to their lawyers, and I had all sorts of troubles and accusations.

I think you may remember.

Luckily for me, CASIO Japan soon put them in their place.

Your Ultimate Force is one model that I wish I would have kept.

I think you would be the only member on this forum with this model as they were a limited edition special Japan model and they were very limited numbers.

Do you still wear it and has the charge remained healthy?

I know some models have had a problem, although not your's, but namely the "BOSS" coffee brand model which Sjors should have soon, and hopefuly some photos.

Have to run here..

Have a good sleep.

Yep, you are right my friend...;-)
Gijs Jolink, is the son of Bennie Jolink...
He only named his band Jovink to avoid connections to his famous Dad.
He could have done a better job on this one..:-D :-D :-D

As a matter of fact he is related to me, not close.
Most off the Jolink's come from the East of the Netherlands.

Never spoke to him though..

BladeDogg

I have had several comments about my login name and here is why I chose it about a year ago for several forums that I am on...

1. I enjoy knives HENCE "BLADE". In detail I like the profile, lines, scale materials, steel researching, meeting makers, robust blades with huge bellies, just everything. I remember buying my first folder when I was about 7th grade at a swap meet.

2. Next, my guilty pleasure from the mid 80s is hip hop music. Hence, DOGG. I enjoyed Snoop Dogg at the time and still do. He and Death Row record signified a great time in my life and is still a part of me today. I still enjoy when they call RAP music and listen to the old school stuff often too. Today's rap is strange but I like the beat...the old school stuff really told a story of real people's lives. I am a lyrics guys as you can tell...

3. I am born the year of the DOG. HENCE times 2 DOGG.

DELORTO
June 30th, 2006, 15:33
I use "DELORTO" from the famous double carburettors used in Alfa Romeos of the 60s-70s.Ten years ago i had a great restored Veloce 2000 quadrifoglio verde and the sound of the delorto carburettors is always in my mind.I remember that i put off the stereo to hear the sound ...:-)

My name is actually two words combined that represent an obsession of mine...

Computer Freak

I came up with it years ago when I was trying to establish an online identity for email, forums, etc. It's not very catchy and hard to pronounce, but I stuck with it. I also never have to worry about somebody else using my name when I sign up somewhere. :-!
