I have answered this post a dozen times but now I need all of your input.
I have a Skyland on pro 2 and I really like it. The only thing I don't like is the BRIGHT polish job that is just a little to much for me at times. I have considered giving it a brushed finish but haven't got the nerve. At this point I am considering moving it and buying a Blackbird. I would love to own both but I do not wear the ones I have now enough.
I need pros and cons and please do not tell me to go with the one that talks to me. I have told myself that for three days now and you can see how far that has gotten me. Not the brightest bulb on the tree am I!!!
Thank in advance, Best health, Frank o|o|o|

Hi Frank,
I had the BB and Skyland and I ended up wearing the Skyland much more. I personally grew tired quickly of the all brushed finished and recently sold the BB. Still have the Skyland too and agree that it can be a bit much but in the end the polished makes it fun. Also the BB's dial to me although very nice....was really plain without pop say compared to the Skyland and the Chronomat. Tough choice. Keep in mind that it may hurt your resale value altering the original finish if you ever did decide to sale it. My vote is to keep it polished ;-)
Good luck,
Don

Hi Frank
Well, all things considered I'd sell the Sky and go and get the Blackbird.
Someone will snap up the sky and why risk changing it, and then still being unsure of the finish....too risky in my book.
Not a great deal of help, just my opinion.

I think DCJ is spot on...might be a case of "the grass is always greener..." I would say get the one that speaks to you, but since you dont want me to...:-d
The only way id suggest doing it is if the polished finish really bothers you. You might just be thinking that you need some change, only to tire of the blackbird just as quickly. The BB is also a fair amount more $$...so how much do you like it?
Anyway, in the end, it really does come down to what youve asked us not to say.....
EDIT: BTW, I had a steelfish, and although I loved it, I always wanted more polished area (I guess despite owning practically identical Breitling collections, we're actually opposites). I got rid of it for the Skyland and it was just what the doctor ordered. I dont regret it at all, but there are still times that I think about getting a brushed finish model...but there are also times when I think about getting a rose gold too...

Hi Frank, tough choice eh! I think, if you are anything like me, -and probably a lot more guys on this forum, you would like both watches.
After the "honeymoon" period with your AS, you are finding it a little too polished, so are looking for something less "blingy", and have latched onto the new satin Blackbird. In your first post, you don't mention LOVING the Blackbird for the watch in it's own right, just for the finish it will give you.
I remember when you first got your AS, and the pictures you posted, (and still do), to know you truly love that watch.
Why not stick with the AS, and change it around more often to lessen the "shine". Leather and rubber staps all look great on the AS.
I just think if you let the AS go for the lesser shine of the Blackbird, you will be posting, not far down the line saying how much you miss the Bling of the Pro II on the AS
The Blackbird is a great watch, but don't get it just for the finish.
Or, you could just get,.........:-x
Good luck,
Nick

I forgot how good this looks on the leather and it does take down the bling factor. I normally put this on my Nav for the winter. I have been wanting a Croc. strap in black, this just might be the answer. How do you feel about the Sky, or the black faced Nav for that matter, on the Croc. Then I would be able to change around the whole bunch for a new look and at a minimal of cost. You said one thing that hit the mark, I really do love this Skyland and I would regret not having it in very short order. Thanks to all of you. You have been a great help.
Best health, Frank :-!

If you would prefer a brushed finish on your Skyland, but don't want to muck it up, send it to Jack @ IWW. http://internationalwatchworks.com/
Assuming your watch is currently in decent condition, he would only charge $65.00 to brush finish the entire case. Of course, you need to factor shipping cost both ways. If you decide you don't care for it all brushed, then send it back and have it restored for a little more.
Just an option to think about if you are happy with all other aspects of the watch.

you need more straps. that'll give you a change and you'll soon forget about it being too bright at times. i find i like my watches on plain rubber deployment bracelets (even though i get crusified here for my dull and boring ways!!!). think about trying the diver pro strap or the ocean racer deployant or something in leather if that's your thing!
I have considered giving it a brushed finish but haven't got the nerve.
NO!!! don't do it. you'll have to brush the bracelet and the watch head in order to match and unless done professionally it'll ruin them both.
At this point I am considering moving it and buying a Blackbird. I would love to own both but I do not wear the ones I have now enough.
another no. but less emphatic. unless the blackbird real sings to you, which i don't feel it does.
I need pros and cons and please do not tell me to go with the one that talks to me. I have told myself that for three days now and you can see how far that has gotten me.
try my first bit of advice for a few weeks. if you still feel twitchy then perhaps you'll have to say goodbye to the skyland.

I personally always keep the "integrity" of my watches in tact, altering it to brushed I would not. I would put on a different strap or bracelet, but not alter them out of original state IMO.

I also would not change the original finish on the watch. I have both the Blackbird and the Skyland Avenger. I wear the Blackbird more, for whatever reason. Both are great watches. If I had to choose between the two, I'd pick the Blackbird. But that's just me.

I have to agree with the others, do not alter the original finish. You may not like it and it will make it more difficult to sell if you ever want to. Your Skyland looks awesome on the black leather strap and super on the Ocean racer. These should give you enough options to decrease the bling factor. As a very last resort, you could always offer me an outrageous price to take it off of your hands. I would be willing to help a friend out. :-d

I have to also agree with the 'leave it alone' approach. I have posted before hjow I didnt like my SA so I had my PRO II bracelet brushed before I even left my AD (note - just the bracelet links - not the clasp and not the watch case). They did an excellent job but I didnt wear the watch for more than one day when I got home and even contemplated selling it!
I took the watch back to the AD after three months of not wearing it and asked for it to be returned to its original state - a much harder task than brushing it......... Well they did such a good job of bringoing bac the 'bling' that I hated that I wore it constantly for the last three months and just returned it a week ago to have it re-polished as I have scrtached it to bits. (All these changes were done free and to a very high standard).
Anyway as per all the above - buy a different strap.................you love that watch so change the strap and start wearing it

Thank you to all of you who took the time to post. I do appreciate it.
I have decided to not part with my SA as I do love the thing a lot!!!
I wore it all day Sunday and realized I just could not part with that "FACE". I will be looking into the black croc. as an additional change. Then, as suggested above, I will have many options and not have to lose my SA. Thanks again, Best health, Frank :-!
