Hello all,
I was thinking about picking up a Glycine Airman, but you never know about the fakes -- and a friend in the Omega forum recommended your exceptional expertise. So, I'd appreciate any light you can shed on ebay item 320004315398 --

By the way, I don't want to indict the seller as he was very professional and honorable in the past in another difficult deal... I guess sometimes sellers don't even know. So I'm coming to the experts.

Thanks in advance for your insight!
Ray

Crystal is not Glycine and neither is the crown, the movement for this watch should be an AS1701 and the movement in the watch does look like a 1701. However I am confused as the seller refers to the movement being signed Enicar. Possibly an Enicar signed AS1701 used as a replacement for the original? The rotor looks genuine.

Ask him about the movement otherwise it looks OK to me

Thanks John -- one other thing: do you know what the story is with the fact that the dial does not carry the Glycine logo over the name? I looked at a njumber of pictures online, and I get the fact that when it's an outline of the logo it's genuine and when it's solid it's not, but I didn't find any reference to being missing altogether. Thanks!

The early 1960's Airman models didnt have the Glycine crown logo, also if you look closely at the dial you will see a small hole between the 2 and the 4 of the 24, this is additional back up for the genuine dial claim. A wire passes through this hole to stop the second hand for hacking the watch. If the hacking mechanism is working (most dont) Werner can fix it :-!

One final question: How much would be a reasonable price for this piece?

If I end up with this Airman, no doubt there will be more... this is how I got started collecting Omegas three years ago! Thanks again, Ray

Ray they sometimes go for crazy prices, especially the cleaner one's. At a guess $500 to $700 for this one.

I used to have all these:

Then I had a cathartic moment and sold them all :-S don't ask me why .... I have a SST06 on the way and am now on the hunt again for a vintage or two :-!

Actually, I would guess a little bit more than that. just last week, an example with a broken hack, a frozen bezel clamp crown, and what looked mysteriously like water damage on the dial went for around $430.00. Another one, which was a fake (although it was in nice condition:roll:) didn't hit the reserve with a $455.00 bid. There is currently one which appears to be genuine, but heavily used, at $535.00 with a day left.

I would hazard a guess at around $700-$800.

In any case, the watch in question sure looks nice! I almost wonder if the "Enicar" is just a mistake. The listing also indicated that the manufacturer of the watch is Tag Heuer!

Go figure!
