View Full Version : Possible Production Delays?

Orsa just announced their Swiss Sea Angler produced by the same Swiss manufacture, Cattin & Cie, as Ocean7 has been pushed back to a mid September release. I believe Orsa had planned on it's original release being June-July 2006. Is this a precursor for Ocean7 delays?
Orsa claims the delays are caused by ETA not shipping the movements on time. A 6 month backlog on the 2824 is being cited. Supposedly Cattin & Cie only received the movements on July 18th. Have the Ocean7 movements already hit the factory?

We're still on schedule for October delivery, but if there are delays, that's the way it goes. Nothing we can do!

Mitch and LaHugh, your'e right! There is nothing you can do sometimes with delays, and we have to roll with the punches and see what we can make of it, in the end cool heads prevail and we will come out winners:gold. See this all the time, as you probably do too.
Keep up the good work, this has to be draining and one huge learning experience.:-S
I just sold 10 watches to par down and it was a very huge learning experience in not just selling but helping/customer questions/shipping problems/ etc.
Thanks guys|>

I'm told that business is better than ever, and subcontractors are slow delivering product. I guess that means we may not meet our timeframe for deliveries in October. We'll see how it goes.
Also, I understand that because of production issues, the outer bezel (the brushed part with the index) will be flat, instead of the slight downward slope toward the crystal as implied in the CAD drawing.
Custom hands are a virtual certainty at this point.

Mitch,
Have you been given an estimate of when you will see the sample watch from the factory? Do you anticipate all future Ocean7 watches will be made by the current Swiss factory or will it be handled on a model by model basis?

Cannon,
We don't have a firm date, but hopefully it will be sometime in September. We'll have some news next week.
We have a good working relationship with Cattin & Cie, and I like the person we deal with, but we're open to use other manufacturers for future production. I've discussed this with C&C, so it's no secret. They will bid on the next project when the CAD design is ready, which hopefully, will be very soon.
The quote we received from Fricker on the LM-1, would have added $200 to the price of each watch. We will give them an opportunity to bid on the LM-2, and maybe they'll be more competitive. I'm not aware of any other manufacturers we can deal with. I'm sure there are quality Chinese manufacturers out there, but we don't know them, and when we tried to deal with one initially through an agent in Hong Kong, the cost of each watch was more than the cost from C&C. My guess is that most of the cost was in the agent's markup. We're open to suggestions, but our preference is to deal with C&C.
Regards,
Mitch
