I have been eyeing these Orient "classic automatic" models for a month now. Well written review and a gorgeous watch. Looks to be the perfect size :-)
I was about to order this exact same model until I read a post here about the newest EL models that came out Nov 08. So I ordered the WZ0081EL yesterday. I'm typically a "sporty/diver" type of watch wearer so it will be interesting how I like this piece.
A question for you...would you happen to know the differences between your model and the white EL (besides the HW and HH new movement)?
Thanks for sharing your review!

AFAIK the differences are the movement and your has a satin dial instead of the textured dial. Case and bracelet look to be the same. When you get yours, please share a review with us as I don't think I have seen anything about these models yet.
I struggled for a long time deciding on this one. I quickly ruled against the EL models because I'm on a budget. But even within the FD models there are combinations of index markers or numbers with either the patterened dial or the satin dial with different dial colors and then some even have a bracelet or a strap. Its enough to make your head spin.

There are a ton of variants indeed! I will post a review of the EL. Really looking forward to it!

Thanks for the new pics, it's a gorgeous watch! I can't wait to order the new black dial model (with hack and winding).

I've been wanting the Seiko SARB033 but this one looks much higher end for not much more money. I've got some thinking to do.

The newer Orient Stars with the hacking and handwinding movement are competitive with the SARB series.
I love the SARB033 and have been thinking about that one for a long time. Some very nice case work on that one.

These hack and hand wind?
If they do, they are just what I have been looking for.
NM, I just reread and saw the new model H/HW.
This is my next WIS.

These are nice! Initially, the positioning of the crown looked odd to me on a dress watch, but looking again, it's kind of unique. I think I'm going to purchase one, but can't decide between white or black, textured dial or non-textured dial...
edit: wow, there's a nice blue dial and brown dial too! makes the decision even more difficult now...

For me, the black is the only way to go, but that's all I knew I wanted and was trying to decide between this one and the Seiko. I might be wrong, but this one seems to be in a whole other class above the Seiko for roughly $40 more. I think the final touches that are pushing me over the edge on this one is the power reserve and the movement. The rotor on the 6R15 appears to be printed on and the 40N50 has just the logo and name on it and is engraved in the rotor instead of printed. I hate to say it, but the Seiko appears cheap in comparison.

The new models of these Orient Star Classics do indeed hack and wind.
How do I know?
I bought one about 3 weeks ago!
I've not posted any pics yet, but will do so in the next few days or so.
Another thing about the watch is that it is incredibly accurate - it runs a little slow unworn and a little fast worn. With this in mind therefore, over 5 days it had neither gained or lost anything when set against an atomic casio. Impressive to say the least.
With it's great quality, looks and accuracy the Orient Star Classic IMHO is quite simply as good as it gets. I love it. Oh yes, and the lume isn't too shabby for a dress watch either.
I don't work for Orient by the way! :-d
