Hi -

Bizarre watch! Very weird.

Thanks for the pictures, it makes ALL the difference. :-)

First of all, the mechanism shows it to be exactly what it says it is: a stop watch. But in this case, from what I can see of the mechanism, the push buttons only serve to actually stop the movement from running: the lever in the middle that is held down by a spring acts to stop the movement of the balance wheel when activated! The pushers are on the left and the hacking lever comes from that side as well.

The spiral markings in the watch face point to a timing function, but the movement looks totally bizarre. It is, indeed, a stop watch in the sense that when the pushers are pressed, the watch stops. But it stops telling time entirely, and has to be rest to a known time when you want to use it as a watch again.

The movement itself is a pin-lever movement of ... modest quality.

Thanks for posting: perhaps someone else will have more information...

Thanks John I find it to be wierd also the second hand looks to be missing i think , where the pusher goes on to it seems to be bent so maybe did they take the second hand off to compensate for the inside peice being bent or could it be a imitation from that time period and any idea on the year im thinking of the 40's or 50's

hey guys did some research and came up with a company cheevers and tweedy co they did make some plated jewerly and watch fobs unsure if that is what the CT 18750 on back of watch stands for or some kind of fake gold marking ct karat maybe and 18k 750 for % unsure watch definetly looks plated to me so im thinking it might be a vintage copy of a higher end watch of the time period.Put it beside my chrono suisse and case is same shape and dial has same type of look minus sub dials and weird red number ring in middle any thoughts on this piece would be great.
