Does anyone know anything about the history of Mathey-Tissot, and does anybody know of a good book with comprehensive backgrounds on existing and extinct watchmakers?

TIA....

Some information on Mathey-Tissot at this link:

Personally I use the Internet and Shugart's book for research. Hartmut Richter has a trilingual volume he uses for his information on European manufacturers. Perhaps he would care to comment.

My trilingual book is just named "Wristwatches/Armbanduhren/Montres-bracelets" and is by Gisbert Brunner and Christian Pfeiffer-Belli. Try Amazon (http://www.amazon.de/exec/obidos/ASIN/3829006608/303-1241688-2105809) if you want a copy.

Thanks for info Ray. I was unable to find the web site via the searches I did.

When you say Internet, do you mean search engine searches or do you mean something like this? http://www.clockswatches.com/index.html
