Hello,

I like the look of the LRRP, but I don't understand this particular alternative.

The only thing I can figure is that you can easily sync it to your local time and then have an easier sun compass.

What do you think?

I think the utility is in the fact that you have a 24 hour dial integrated with the normal 12hr one, and still leaves the bezel free to be used as elapsed time. The inside ring of indices cover 1-12 local, and even hours on GMT fomat. The outer ring marks the odd numbered hours for GMT format; used together they let you have the full 24 hour GMT utility on your dial, without needing a 24 hour marked bezel. Just my best guess though.

you hit it right on the mark, the numbers don't have to be printed on a charter ring that can be difficult to see.

That takes too much mental gyration. I just thought of another; an AM/PM indicator when originally set to local time.

LOL, that'd work too I guess. b-) Could be handy when setting the date or if confined inside where you can't see the sun (I remember some workdays like that).

I had my LRRP ordered with a GMT hand, but a standard 12 hour dial, and just emailed Bill the other day to remove the GMT hand from the order. The more I thought about it, it just wouldn't get that much use. The only time I seem to have trouble with timezones is the rare occurrence talking an associate in Switzerland. For some reason that mental calculation just slips by me, so I set my Outlook calendar for Bienne as a second timezone (a coworker showed me the trick).

So in reality the only thing a GMT hand would do on my LRRP would be spoil the stark look of the dial / hand combination I chose.
