Am I correct in understanding that shipping is 50 Euros($68 US dollars) to the USfor an OD?

I have purchased a lot of watches internationally and have never paid more then $25 US shipping and sometimes less. I could understand paying that much on a $2500+ watch to cover insurance, but on a $200 watch it seems really high.

I assume that shipping is not a profit center, so I have to ask if all shipping options have been explored. I have an OD on preorder, but honestly I am struggling with the shipping costs.

I assume this must have been discussed before, so help me understand. Thanks!

I think its a valid question, wondering if all shipping options have been explored.
I realize Carlos is giving a great shipping deal to people that ordered both models, thats awesome.
For me delays are alright, they happen, its just a side effect getting in early on a watch/company. It seems like quality is first concern.

After seeing how Carlos handles problems, I also highly doubt anyone is trying to make money on shipping, just seems a bit high, maybe shipping costs allot in Portugal? Maybe its a average rate?

Either way, im looking forward to the watch :-!.

edit: Did a little looking around (searching:-d) and came up with this response by Carlos.

Don't blame me, I am charging even a lower price than UPS charges me. As I have mentioned in previous threads I am selling both models at very tight margins and therefore I am not able to charge less in terms of shipping. Other brands may seem to charge less but what they do is that they reflect in watch price already costs of shipping.
However my option is a lot more advantageous when you purchase more than 1 watch as price is flat up to a certain weight, more or less 1 Kg.
As for not accepting registered airmail it all has to do as well with Paypal. I have known of quite some bad practices from them in terms of chargebacks due to fact seller couldn't prove what it had been shipped. With UPS in between both buyer and seller are more secured. In the end all has a price.

Thanks for digging that up.

I never meant to imply that Carlos was taking us for a ride and I tried to make that clear.

I can ship Flat rate international for about $12 to $20 anywhere that I have ever tried. Apparently shipping to the US is much more costly.

UPS is always higher and don't forget that UPS is going to broker the watch themselves and you will get hit with full customs, tariffs and any taxes they can come up wit as well as their own brokerage fee. :-|
