Got this today:

It is in virtually NOS condition. I have heard of Nisus, but know nothing about the brand so any information appreciated. Unusually, the back is gold plated.

The movement is an Arogno 152. This is a first for me - I've never heard of Arogno. :-d So, again, any info appreciated.

Also found this:

so Arogno became part of ESA.

All I can tell you is that Arogno eventually ended up in the ESA (Ebauches SA) trust where it was "condemned" to construct mainly hand wound movements.

You have a knack for finding arcane watches... wonderful condition!! quite a find!

are you collecting these for the obscure movement or the obscure maker?

Well, I didn't know what movement was in it - so it can't be that.:think:

With this it was the condition that was attractive. Plus, to be honest, I thought it just possible that the seller had made a mistake in saying gold plated when I saw the shiny golden back. :-d

Nisus is mentioned as a supplier to the German army in WW2;

E.g.:

and also supplied the US army

But I can find nothing, really, about the company "FABRIQUE D'HORLOGERIE NISUS S.A. PERY".

BTW, the ad below includes Arogno's 'A' in the collection of ebauche logos which went under the ESA umbrella.
