In my regular e-mail exchanges with Chuck Maddox, one topic that kept popping up regularly was his quest for a Lemania 5100 chronograph with white dial and black registers. The only one I could think of then was a version of the Paul Picot U-Boot that Chuck found a bit too blingy for his tastes. In the end, we never found that elusive chronograph, and we were not even sure it existed...

So when this Lorenz got listed on eBay France, I couldn't help remembering these discussions with Chuck. And I had to get this chronograph!

Even though we had only a couple of dozen e-mailed conversations, I think of his expertise and contribution to the watch collecting world daily.

He would be damn proud of that sweet looking Lemania 5100 :-!

Very Nice Pascal. Chuck's is missed and it is almost on a daily basis that I visit his website to look up information. His legacy and memory live on |>

Sweet chrono, I was curious, was the auction description inclusive of the fact this baby had the Lemania 5100 movement?
Nope, it wasn't. In fact, the seller sent me a message to confirm dispatch of the watch in which he added that the movement is a Valjoux. He must have felt a bit silly when I told him that this watch was in fact powered by a Lemania 5100!

And what DID IT GO FOR??
249 €. In fact, it was one of my cheapest Lemania 5100 purchases so far. Chuck would have had a good chuckle about that.

The Lemania 5100's dial configuration is pretty unique. If you get a good picture of the watch, you actually don't need to see the actual movement to guess what calibre powers it.

So based on the pictures for that auction, it was obvious that the movement was anything but a Valjoux... :-d
