dear all
I am looking at purchasing an 1806. I have been around the web, including Mr Trotts history, great stuff thank you very much; but I cannot find reference to an 1806. It also has a plain case-back. this cannot be right?
all advice greatly appreciated

If you mean that they are not available for purchase on this particular day or week you may well be correct. They are getting on for 35years old and they are in the hands of owners who may not be marketing them just at this point in time. The hunt is the hunt and it may take you a year or two to locate a willing seller with the model in the condition you will accept and the price you are willing to pay. Be patient and one will show up, most likely when you least expect it and when you probably won't be able to afford it confortably. But thats life. If you put away the $$ then they will be ready when the opportunity presents itself.
Good luck.

thanks for the reply greatly appreciated. What I meant is that I have found a seller but the reference quoted is 1806 and furthermore the dial is all black, a peculiarity I have been unable to find on all the very helpful websites etc linked to this one. Is a totally black face the norm. I am as you can tell, a Breitling newbie
thanks again
Gary

cosmonaute referens is 1809 not 1806
link to the 1806 vs 1809 http://www.breitling-navitimer.com/000000996607caa07/index.html
abut the plain case-back you say its common that its like this as it was not deep in printing and during time its worn down
i think this is the next to get a price increase as they are not as common as the navitimer and are spot on in fashion
you may look at www.navitimer.net (http://www.navitimer.net)
some pic of my ex 1806
