It just arrived, my second IWC in 2-3 weeks.
Is there a support group for this addiction? :-d
I was looking for a daily watch and since most of my watches has a black dial and are chrono's, I figure it is best to get a white or silver dialed watch and I found the perfect watch in the Spitfire. Simple yet stunningly beautiful! I love the raised numerals, the lume in the dark and the croc strap looks so good.
Well, enjoy the pics:

Now with it's two week old companion - 39mm vs. 41mm:

SWEET! Congratulations!
I don't know what it is about IWC - but it grows on you so fast. It's like once you go IWC you can't go back kinda thing.
I am trying really hard not to pull a trigger on the 5001 7day power reserve at the moment and the IWC Spitfire UTC!
Enjoy yours and keep posting these great photos!

Thanks for all the compliments.
Here's a very quick lume shot (the 1's didn't seem to absorb enough to lume up as bright, cool nonetheless):

The numerals are very legible and I just love the raised numbers, it's hard to describe but it just "pops off" more. b-)

There is just so much great things to say about the watch, it is bound to miss a couple of great thigns about this watch. It really adds to the legibility of the watch, especially in the dark. :-)

Hey Paul -
How is the strap on that Spitfire! Looks thick (and probably better) than our port chronos!

I would say the thickness is about the same, the pics make it look thicker because of the lighter color and you see some shadows while the black strap looks slimmer just because it has a darker color.

Very nice, NightScar. That is one of the watches that is on my short list.
A couple of questions, if you don't mind:
What is your wrist size?
Have you had a look at the movement? I know it's based on the ETA 2892-A2 and I've heard that IWC modifies that movement significantly, but I've never had a chance to view their work.
Cheers and congratulations on a very nice piece.

My wrist size is 6.6-6.7 inches and the Spitfire seems just right.
By looking at the movement you meant opening up the case back then I would say no. I do not have the tools to do so and I believe this has a layer of of soft iron that covers the whole movement as protection to magnetism so I don't really even want to try and open the back.

Thanks.
The Spitfire does have the antimagnetic layer, but I believe that extra layer is easy to remove. Regardless, I'm not asking you to open the watch. Just wondering if you were one of those folks who had.

Since I can't provide you with a pic of the movement in my watch, I can however provide a pic of the Calibre 30110 movement, the same exact movement on my Spitfire:

Also some extra information about the movement I found that is very interesting:
IWC buys at ETA no complete movements. The movements are only bought in its components, never assembled. In addition, only the best possible version is purchased - the so-called Chronometer version. Some components of the original ETA calibre's are immediately eliminated and are never used
by IWC. They are replaced by usually more expensive and better ones.
The main parts IWC replaces are:
A. the mainspring
B. the barrel
C. the escape wheel
D. the pallet fork
E. the complete balance including the balance spring
The entire escapement is a good example. It is ordered separately with different, more exact technical IWC specifications and is only fitted into the calibre at the end of the assembly.
The only difference between the movement 37524 and the movement 30110 is, that the first one 37524 is gold plated and the second one 30110 is nickel plated.

I've seen and read that article. It's very interesting and thanks for posting a snippet of it here. Thanks, too, for finding that photograph.
I think it might be time to pay the AD a visit. I'm tossing up between the Spitfire, a Railmaster and an Explorer I. But, to be honest, I'm drawn to the IWC, which is more understated. The brand isn't as recognizable among the general public and I like that.

Ditto to that! Your other half must be a lot more forgiving than mine - if I bought two that close she'd be arguing right now which one would transfer to her under the divorce settlement!!
I'm just teetering on the edge of swapping from a Rolex to an IWC Saint Exupery UTC.....

I'm still single, too young to tie the knot.
You have been talking about the IWC SE UTC for a while now, I think it is about time you take the plunge... secretly of course. ;-)
Maybe you should open a new account in the Caymans that you better half will not find out? :-d

I'm hoping that that would be it for the year, but it is not likely.
I have my sights set on something already, you know which one I am talking about, the beautiful GMT IIC. :-p
I'll be going to Vegas this weekend, if I get a little lucky, who knows, I might be coming home with a new friend on my wrist. :-d
