Hey guys,

I want to add a rose gold watch to the collection. The only ones i like (in my budget), are the Raymond Weil Tradition: http://www.authenticwatches.com/raymond-weil-tradition-mechanical-2836-pp-00207.html

and the Hammy Jazzmaster Chrono: http://www.luxurywatchstore.com/watches/watch-exp+sku-12351-brand-hamilton-pid-h32646597.asp

I see they usually go for 1100-1200USD online. I can get it for $1500CDN including tax from an AD. Worth the change$? Any other suggestions instead?

Both are excellent, I do like the look of the RW better (=more classic).

While I didn't see the rose gold hamilton at my ad, I do know he has the cronos priced cheaper...I only mention it because we're both in Toronto. Pm me if interedted.

My preference would be the Hammie. For pricing I'd suggest you check out Kenmar Watches. They have that model and are an AD so they are not listing their price; you'd have to ask them. Kenmar usually runs very near the bottom price of what you can find for a watch. I am not necessarily saying you should buy from them, but getting a price from someone like them in many cases gives you an idea of dealer pricing, profit margins and whatnot.

Then there is the tried and true method of getting the exact model number than Googling it to find all available pricing. Again not necessarily saying buy the lowest. If your AD is someone you have a relationship with it is certainly worth throwing the business their way. But if you are walking off the street to buy it from a dealer you never done business with before what does it matter where you get it from.

One word of caution with Hamilton. You cannot get any type of service or parts for them except from an AD. They are a bit of a stickler for that. Couldn't even buy a bracelet link from them directly.

Yea, it has a more classic look that won't necessarily go out of style, but I seem to like things that catch people's attention, and the hammy does that in person.

NutellaBear, thanks for the suggesttions, ill try them. I would like to give my usual AD the business, but if it means ill save quite a bit of money, i'd go somewhere else..for my TAG it was the difference of $100, so i just went to my local store since they were authorized on not grey market.

sent you a pm cp_ste.croix!

thanks guys

For what it's worth, here are my two (rather useless at the moment :( ) aussie cents:

The Hamilton just looks like it has more "presence" than the RW, if that makes any sense :P (don't like square watches myself)

I like the combination of the reddish gold, reddish dial and reddy-brown strap (my eyes are funny though :P, if that's just plain ole brown or even green just let me know ;) ). All in all a beautiful watch.

How useful will you find the chrono feature? It's not as "dial-hogging" as some, and doesn't detract from the face at all, though, if there's a plain faced alternative... do you have any chrono's in your collection already?

If I may suggest something a little different, take a trip to the far east where the cherry blossoms bloom serenely as Godzilla smashes buildings into the ground (:P):

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v484/silentspeaker/500.jpg

The first one can be had for about 500-600USD, the third (newest model) about a 1000(i think ?), and the second one's between the two.

Now, I don't know if these are rose gold, could just be the pictures (they look "rosey" to me, but hey, remember "funny eyes" :P), but rather nice looking watches regardless :D

They are japanese domestic sale only models, but can be obtained rather easily through the usual suspects -- pay a visit to the Japanese watch section, they'll sort you out ;)

Silent Speaker: Thanks for the advice! Yea, I think I am going to stick the hamilton too, has more of a "presence"..lol

I liked the style of those watches you displayed, but when I found out they were not swiss, i kinda backed away..lol

Im going through a swiss phase now, probably because my collection is small.

But yea, thanks for the advice. I found a good price on the Hamilton at an Authorized dealer (member of this forum recommended me). I'm going to pick it up tomorrow or friday :)

thanks! im pretty excited. I had a few auto hamilton watches, but i sold them before i even got to enjoy them (was able to turn a profit!)

my only concern is that it is kinda "thick" to wear as a suit watch. i tried it on, its pretty big...i guess its okay if my dress shirt gets stuck under the case so this way i can show it off more even when im not trying to show it off!

Congrats, I love that model. Im a big Hamilton fan and I think that they are a ton of watch for the money. Thats the model with the 7750 chrono movement and that is a workhorse. Anyway wear that thing proud and enjoy.

You are exceeding the speed limit and your seat belts aren't fastened. Shape up buddy!

Congrats on the new watch!

hey thanks!

im loving it so far!!! Only one issue is that the buckle is alil sharp on the release button and its digging into my skin (i have a smaller wrist so the buckle is off centered)--no biggie tho as im going to change it.

OMG, I wanted a tachymiler sooo bad, thats wat got me into Hamilton watches! white dial on a SS bracelet = pimpppp.

does the tachymiler have the split time chrono? it uses the 7750 if im not mistaken like mine. Mine doesnt have the split time, just curious.

Also, is it possible to overwind the spring? im guessing its not since its auto and not mechanical?

haha, i was probably going under the limit as i was trying to get a steady shot of the watch..lol

im craving the tachymiler next! people think im crazy spending money on watches, i tell them its better than drugs--although im pretty sure its more of an addiction.

Very nice. I saw that same watch at my local Costco in silver rather than rose gold. There was another gentleman there who was also admiring it. I think it was on sale at $650...not a bad deal.
