An interesting article in the NY Times. The CEO of Hamilton reports here (http://www.nytimes.com/2009/05/07/fashion/07POINTS.html) that the Ventura is selling better than Hamilton's most high tech models. Attributed to a nostalgia for the 50s and interest fostered by AMC's series "Mad Men".
Mad Men, for all those foreigners out there ;-) is about work in ad agencies on Madison Avenue in New York during the 50's.
I found the article linked off of a nice Hamilton Electric Vega (oh so 50's a watch!) on Watchismo, that is unfortunately already on hold.

Goes to show you, there will always be a place for the classics. Heck, look at Ford with the Mustang, Dodge with the Charger, and eventually Chevy with the Camaro......there is still a call for the classic looks.

I'd love to see more asymetrical reissues!!

IMHO, the Ventura is a watch that epitomizes Hamilton in it's heyday. And in 1957, when the first Ventura was introduced, it was as hi-tech as they come. . . the first electric watch.
The modern Hamilton of Swatch Group fame has been very smart to embrace the iconic Ventura and offer many different modern versions, from quartz to mechanical automatics and keeping this great homage to the past alive.:-!
Hey. . . if Elvis had a few, it had to be a KOOL watch.b-)

If you tried a Ventura on I would all but guarantee you would own one. They look outstanding and I'm guessing there is nothing else like it in your collection.
I actually own two. One as my fancy dress up Ventura and one as my day to day beater.
I get asked about it quite often.

Elvis was quite a collector. . . of many things AND people, including watches so he owned several brands of watches that today we would deem as collectible items. Scroll down the link below for some Elvis pix.
