as i said. a humble collection. nothing extravagant, nothing really rare- although the grant is fairly scarce. my omega 344 is out for routine service. two hamiltons, two eternamatics, an omega 503, a borgel cased trench and an elgin 760. have a good weekend everyone.

The Hamilton 'Tank' watch on the left there, with the gold case & numbers looks BEAUTIFUL.

What can you tell us about it?

ahh, the carson.

it is a lovely watch, but it's also the watch that will cause others to scorn me.

i purchased an orphaned 982m off the bay. a beautiful movement. alas, i had to case for it. then i found the carson. it's 980 movement was badly damaged, so i replaced it with the 982m.

it is heresy, i know. but now i get to wear it, and love it. and i'll never sell it or lie to anyone about it. i promise.

Very nice set. I particularly like the nameless early watch on the military strap. :-!:-!:-!

I agree, I think that trench watch is absolutely phenomenal. Great case, lovely hands, superb dial... Is there anything you can tell us about it?

thank you all very much for the kind comments. the trench watch is interesting. i have found enough information to feel comfortable calling it a borgel style watch- this is in reference to the case design. the pictures are old and not very good, but they give you an idea. the movement is held in a threaded ring on which the bezel is secured. the threaded ring screws in a threaded sleeve inside the case making for one of the early attempts at water and dust resistance. the movement is a higher than average grade unmarked swiss, and i have yet to discover who manufactured it. if anyone has a guess i'd love to know. there's a fellow selling trench watches in england who has a watch exactly lik ethis one. he's claiming the movement is vacheron, but i have seen no evidence supporting that claim. the marks indicate an import date of 1914. the FB and key indicate borgel. and that's all i know. thanks!

thank you for your kind comment.

i wear all of them. they all keep decent time, although the omega, elgin and ham 982m are pretty close to chronometer time.

if a watch doesn't find its way onto my wrist several times a month, then i set it free. looking back, i can really only say that i regret not keeping one- a zenith bumper auto cal. 133.8.
