The Fake guys ;-)

Hello,

I just wonder: on every watch forum there is very subtle described what is for example fake on a fake Breitling.

So, is it for those "bad guys" sooooooo difficult to make the "perfect" copy ????

Because I assume, if they for ex. read that there must be an "open" 6 in the date window....why don't they just put the right font of "6" in that window ?

What I want to say: when the bad quys red these forums too, I presum they can easily adapt there workflow to make the perfect replica ?

My take is that the more work that has to be put in to a fake (the better the fake), the more it will cost to make it.

I guess there are at least two caregories of fakes.

1. The obvious fake, that people buy at makets in various countries. Everyone knows its a fake. People just buy it to have a piece of metal on their wrist with a cool logo on it. Sold really cheap.

2. The more elaborate fake that can fool most people without attention to slight details. Usually sold just enough under retail price for the real deal to trigger the greed in people.

Nr. 2 naturally costs more to make and fake as well. Most of the cost will probably go in to the outer apperance of the thing, and thus making the movement equally more shitty.

Bottom line. The "fakers" are in it for the money. The less they spend the more they make. They spend exactly what they have to in order to fool the people that tey are targeting. Not the collector or the enthusiast, but the average Joe Blow who wants a cool watch, but don't have the "passion" to pay attention to minor deatails before making his purchase.

Absolutely right !

And the fakers of category 2 are the real criminals: probably most people THINK they bought the real stuff for a reasonable price....:-|

People who buy a Rolex for a few dollars at a Spanish beach KNOW that they bought a piece of toy.....but when you pay 2000 euros and you receive a fake....bwah !!!! O| :-( :-|
