Hey guys, im new to the forum and a proud firsttime owner of a Breitling, im 23years old and i am Norwegian so my english might be a bit rusty..

I just got a Breitling for bentley 6.75 for my birthday 9days ago it had to be specialy ordered from Sweden since the watch is demed too exlusive for Norway, and i LOVE my watch, the thing is:

Today i tried the chronograph for the first time and the seconds hand is having a really hard time moving from start til where the 4 o`clock marker is, after that it ticks along really well untill it hits the 11 marker... i have to press the " start" button like a 100times to "jump" start it thrugh the 12,1,2,3 markers since it stop`s all the time...

Is there any quickfix for this problem ore do i have to send it in?
Have any of you had a similar problem?

-F-

EDIT: i read up on another site and now i started the chronograph and i am going to leave it for about 4-5hours to see if it starts to tick as it should, crossing my fingers on this one since my problem is not resetting it, its getting it to start.. hehe

This is what i found on the other site.
"What do I do if my mechanical chronograph hands do not reset to zero exactly?
You can try running the chronograph for a long period of time, like several hours, and then stop it and reset it. Sometimes this fixes the problem as the hands can get stuck."

first of all: congrats on the watch.
second: sounds like a lubrication problem and may have to be sent in.
see what some others have to say before doing anything.
good luck!

Congrats and Welcome to the forum...

I would run the watch for a few hours even a day reset it and try again after say 10 mins rest. It could be a simple case that the watch has been sat at a dealers not being used etc and simply the lubrication has seized a little.

If none of this works well send it in under warrenty..but I hope that it will sort it self out for you...

well, i left the chronograph running for 11 hours and the damn second hand has not moved a tick... turned the chronograph off, reset my watch and left it for 30min and tryed the chronograph again with no luck... damn this suckes..

how about just starting it over and over again, cuz the second hand goes around if i push the start button enough, this way the lube will "let go", wont it?

Hello,

Sorry I didn't reply earlier. If the chronograph is not functioning as it should then take it back. If something is out of alignment or broken, working the buttons will do nothing other then stress the already damaged parts. It could be a little as a spring out of place or something major like a bent shaft or displaced jewel (bearing).

Second, how are you applying the push force to the button. It should be one sharp depression braced by your thumb on the opposite side of the case with the force applied by your forefinger directed to the centre of the case through the actuator button. There should be an audible "click" as the button goes "home" and the chrono starts up. Half measures will give you half results. Same again with the reset button at '4'. If you are still having problems then get it back to your dealer asap and have them deal with it. Playing with the mechanism will only exacerbate the damage.

Thank you :)
i`ll leave the watch and use it as a watch until tomorrow, the i`ll take it to a dealer (the only dealer in my city that has breitling) and use the international warranty..

This sucks big time, now i probably wont see my watch for 4-8weeks...

Sorry to hear that. Good luck with sending it in. I know that after it comes back you'll see that it was totally worth it!!

No matter how you look at this, it's very unfortunate that it happened with a brand new watch. But... stuff happens. You can tell from this forum that this kind of thing is very rare and I know that's not too consoling to you right now when you are standing there with a broken watch. Keep your chin up... things will start looking up when you get the watch back. Hope this helped. Cheers.
