Hello,

This is my first time posting on this forum, but I'm hoping some Breitling enthusiasts can help me. I recently inherited a Breitling from my Dad, it is a gold Chronomat that was issued around 1995 for the Italian Air Force's 40th anniversary. I know if was one of his favorite watches and as I am starting my own collection now, I wanted to know if anyone could steer me to a website or book where I can learn more about this watch. Thank you in advance for any help you can provide!

Regards,

josejose50

P.S. My wife just noticed this while looking at the watch, it has a 006/100, does this mean it was 6 out of a series of 100 or some kind of serial or identification number.

Hello josejose50,

Welcome to our forum.

Congratulations on recieving a very fine watch from your father. Wear it well.

You have found one of the best sites on the web to learn about your watch.
If you look at the top of this forum page you will see an articles section.

There you will find reviews of many of the models sold by Breitling.

The Chronomat is one of the main stay lines produced and is reviewed.

As far as the series numbering on your watch it does indicate the watch was #6 of 100 units. Special series, more so for gold cases, were typically produced in low numbers. You are lucky to have this watch in your care.

As you didn't mention its service history I will suggest that it may be due for service as its eleven years since it was new. Most valjoux 7750 movements would be serivced on a 4-6 year service cycle. This is the movement most likely to be found in your watch.

Others will most likely add their thoughts to this thread. Thanks for posting.
