My new automatic 42mm Laco has arrived today direct from our friends in Deutscheland, and it is a marvelous piece...the craftsmanship is better than expected, truly a splendid watch.
Tony from Timequest.is is brilliant, weeks ago when I finalized the order, he said "you'll have it on the 14th." He must also be clairvoyant. He could have made more $$ telling me to buy the 55 mm repro, but said he felt it would be just too big...the 42 mm is wonderful, and it is classy enough it might just be able to gain time as a watch for work, even with a suit...
If you are not used to using the pilot 40s style band, it might take some time to get comfortable with it, but that is due more to my lack of experience than anything else. The leather is excellent - I know this because leather, particularly, leather jackets, is my thing, and I can tell you that the vegetable tanned cowhide used is excellent quality.
Also, the lume is quite powerful, and the face is exquisite. I modified the 861465 FLB to go with an "A" dial without logo, date or any other text, and the face is clean and sleek.
I might still pull the trigger on the 45 mm coming next year, perhaps in the "B" dial - but I'll deal with it then. Kudos to Laco for manufacturing so quickly such an elegant piece, with sharp details and fine production.
Pictures to come shortly...
