View Full Version : Oops - magnetised my new Planet Ocean (I think)

I've had a PO for week and a half - it was initially running 1.5 seconds fast a day, but over the last few days it's running about 10-15 seconds fast each day. I wondered if it was just a 'settling in' thing, but read something about magnetised watches and I think that might be my problem.

The watch has been living overnight in its box on top of a small bedroom hifi speaker... and now I've tested with a handheld compass the needle flies away from the '3' position on the watch :(

Is this something my dealer (I'm in the UK) should be able to fix? Does it go back to Omega? Is it even covered under warranty?

Thanks for any advice,
Jonathan.

Does it still gain 10-15 seconds per day when NOT on the speaker? If NO...just keep it away from magnetic fields (easier said than done in the electronic world we live in). If YES, then perhaps you may have an issue that only Omega can resolve.

Some dealers/watchmakers have demagnetizers - I would check with him 1st.
Also, you can buy them for about $70 (us) off the ofrei website. It's a simple thing to do if you have the demagnetizer unit to do it with.

Hi

Not sure if you live around the London area, however the Omega shop on Bond Street has a de-magnetizer in store

Hope this helps
