I do not intend to contribute to the debate or put the WIS world to rights, rather, I simply intend to post some utterly gratuitous and really rather poor (I'm no photographer) shots taken today of some, though sadly not all, of my older watches. Due to the nature of the photographs a slightly more modern watch or two may also creep in from time to time. Do not be alarmed, this is quite normal. :-!

Hope that there's something here for you to enjoy.

{regarding the above, does 1983 count as vintage? Probably not, sorry.}

I really like that Seiko with the day under the "Seiko". Is that a Seikomatic?

It is. A 1967 model. Good spot.

I love the Doxa!

I picked that up a couple of months ago. A jeweller in Antwerp, Belgium, discovered he had a box of mixed DOXA watches dating from 1963 in his basement which were completely untouched. The orginal strap (which was blue suede) literally fell apart when I handled it. The watch was brand new, unworn, and in stunning condition. You can see how mirror-reflective the S/S case is. Plus the bond NATO strap really suits it.

A number of these watches were available but the price has gone through the roof after the first batch he released for sale flew out. I paid less than 40 euros, the last I saw had a price of 225 euros. Check e.bay.co.uk to see if there are any more avialable.

The Favre Leuba Daymatic looks really nice.

This was a good find too. I've been spending a lot of time recently learning as much as I can about watch repair and restoration. This watch was bought specifically so that it could have the short straw in terms of my first ham fisted attempts at "fixing" an auto-winding, day - date wheeled watch. The two calibre 66 Seikos had served as the test-beds when it came to straight-forward and uncomplicated, in an horological sense, hand winding repair and restoration.

It was a bit ratty when I bought it. Now it runs like a dream, is very accurate, and it looks like a really well cared for vintage watch. I'm very proud of it.

Glad you enjoyed some of my watches.
