I just received a replacement bezel for my Super Avenger - large wing. The bezel turns fine but freezes when I tighten the screws. Any suggestions welcome. thnx

You dont need to tighten them completely like that. Loosen them a bit as long as they are still secure and it should loosen up.

Same thing happened to me (thought I'd broken the bezel!).
Like RJ says: just loosen them a touch and the bezel should be fine. Careful not to strip the screw heads though...

Is this an aftermarket bezel? If so, maybe the screws are too long.
All the genuine bezels I've worked with get the screws tightened all the way with no problem.

I believe N2FHL is quite correct. Why would breitling release a model where the bezel screws couldn't be tightened against shoulder of the bezel to secure the screw in place and the bezel to the body of the watch. Something isn't original or there is a slim chance the bezel out of place in relation to the retaining grove in the lens surround. Cross check the original with the replacement for dimensional exactness.

Mine is original and I had the same issue after removing the bezel.

Breitling simply doesn't make a bezel with screws that don't tighten all the way. Loose screws can fall out or cause trouble.
Perhaps the screws were mixed up. The riders have different length screws and don't need to be loosened to remove the bezel. The 12:00 rider screw is the longest and that is where the gap in the retaining spring should be.

The super avenger does not have screws on the rider tabs.

You're right, I was talking about Breitlings in general. So that leaves a problem with one of the springs. Sometimes the tab on the click spring gets bent when it is removed. Then it doesn't go in all the way.
It has to be something, because those screws should be tight.

In my experience, they need to be tight, but not forced tight, kind of like the crown. If you force them tight they seem to make the bezel difficult to turn.
