Yes it's an awesome movement. But a shame it's on such an ugly horrid looking watch. i bought one in the summer, barely lasted a month before i had to pass it on. The design grows uglier and worse looking every day you look at it.

A pretty harsh comment for a newcomer to the forum. <| New members usually introduce themselves, elaborate on their interest for the brand, and get welcomed in return.

It's an ugly watch, what else can i say? I bought it mainly for the new movement. I thought it looked different, and interesting at first....then quickly realised it was just ugly, badly proportioned and not a classic design :( Hopefully Breitling will put the movement (which is excellent) in a more deserving design....

Well i read it, but it wasn't really worthy of a direct answer-to-question/insult reply was it? (So i just went into more detail about the watch, which is what this topic is about.) Just like your post in fact, although i'm being nice and humouring you here. My post was directly about the topic in questrion, the B01, as was my next post. "Dons" was a thinly veiled insult to me, and yours is completely unnecessary and nothing to do with the topic at hand.

May i ask how long it took you to realise that the BO1 went from, "different and interesting" to "ugly, badly proportioned and not classic".

Bit of a wild change of opinion there, but fair play for buying an ugly watch "just for the movement"

Welcome, by the way.

It took about a week to realise that the design wasn't really that attractive. And another to realise that everytime i looked at it i disliked it more. The ridiculous pearl really started to annoy me first. Then the date font that's way too fussy and fancy and doesn't match the rest of the watch at all. Then the kid-like learning to read numbers on the bezel. And then it had to go.

It's not a harmonious symphony of design. It's a few different/interesting features thrown together that don't fit and really stand out as bad the more you wear it.

Describing the B01 as ugly is just a matter of personal taste. That's fair enough.
I like the B01 too however, I have not seen it in person yet.
Guess I'll make up my mind about it as soon as I've had a look at my local AD.
The different views here actually made me even more eager to take the trip to my AD today. I'll get back to you later...

Hello Forum-members,

This is my first post here. I am writing from Hungary.
I like watches very much both mechanical and quartz, but the mechanical is maybe a little bit closer to me. I've got a few Seikos, Damasko, Speedbird III..etc and the newest in my colection is the Breitling BO1. I purchased this watch in the middle of September in Vienna. The watch originally came with a steel bracelet and I bought additionally a croco leather strap. Right now I wear it with the croco. The watch looks sporty and elegant with it. Of course just in my opinion. :-) The watch came with a very nice Breitling "The Book". Inside is the history of Breitling. So far I am happy with the watch /which is quite punctual: a little more than 1 sec + / day in a 24 day perioid/. I believe it's top notch for a mechanical watch.
Later I will post some pics if I find my camera's charger :)

Cheers!

Seems TheBluePrince is having a lot of bad luck with watches recently. That said, he is of course entitled to air his opinion. This is an open forum afterall. I haven't seen one of the B01s in the flesh yet, so can't make an educated comment on it, but for everyone that loves a particular watch or even brand, there are others that just don't get it (like the Blackbird - never really did much for me until I tried one on recently - man that is one beautiful watch).

How is that putting anything into context? Nothing to do with this topic.

I buy 3-4 "luxury" brand watches every year, i don't stick to any one brand. I bought the B01 as i was feeling down and ticked off that my Alaska project was broken, and then my 40th anniv apollo was broken so i picked up something else as a pick me up. Sadly i didn't like the B01, although, unlike the Omega's it has an awesome movement.

Greetings from Hungary, and congrats on your B01 :-! Which dial version is that?

If it's possible, please also shoot a picture with natural daylight, without using the flash. Such lighting would improve overall picture quality by a mile ;-)

Blue - I believe that you are trying to state your opinion here, and I for one am ok with it. But the way in which you did came off a little harsh. Though I disagree with your opinion I can see where some might not like the new look of the B01 as it moves from the traditional look that Breitling has been known for. I disagree - I love the look and feel of it (though I dont own one) as it gives the Breitlings a little versatility in the line.

I also do not think that one week is long enough to justify a total turn around in your opinion. To buy that piece because it was different and interesting then sell it rather quickly makes me wonder if you are like a lot of others that just wanted the newest offering then had either buyers remorse/guilt or something else caught your eye and you were not in love with that piece when you bought it so it made sense to just get rid of it.

I kept it for a couple of weeks at least. Probably closer to a month. It didn't grow on me, quite the reverse in fact. I knew i wouldn't ever like it enough to want to wear it much so it made sense to sell. I buy watches to wear them, not keep in the safe.

I love my Breitlings, and think the brand is innovative and tough. That being said, I think the B01 line is a stark departure from the classic and interesting designs of the past. They are oddly shaped, weirdly fonted (IF THATS A WORD) and squared off blocks.

A swing and a miss for the brand.<|

[BLUEPRINCE] :-! Thanks for the curt and honest opinion. We need more men here who have some thick skin. Post often and don't let 'em get you down.

Hi all.
Just got back from my local AD.
Finally had the chance to handle the B01 in person, and I must say it's an awsome piece of jewelery.
Bezel - Nice. A bit unusual for Breitling, but still a beautiful piece of work.
The dial - Love it.|>
This watch is now at #1 on my wishlist

By the way, I ended up buying a new leather strap for my SA.
Too frequent trips to the AD is not good for my wallet:-d

IMHO love & hate designs always have high chances to become classics. At first I didn't like the fonts on the B01, but if you look at the whole picture, it looks quite stunning. The only thing I have a slight issue about is the polished bezel which makes the whole watch a little bit too dressy I think. But I'm sure regardless of the bezel I'd want one badly as soon as I try one on. That's why I try to resist trying one on

Beauty is definately in the eye of the beholder. I don't own a B01 but did go to an AD and checked one out. The stainless/18k bracelet version. I personally think it's a fine looking timepiece. Again, that is just my opinion.

Hi guys

Just tot I'd say my 2 cents worth. Heh. Got the B01 as my 21st birthday present way back in May. Think it was when it was just released as well. And I absolutely adore the watch too! Never been a fan of Breitling till the B01 came along. Way to go Breitling!

And to be completely honest, I think Breitling succeeded in their attempt because of stories like yours. I think their intention was to keep the overall feel of the design familiar for long time fans, while changing it just enough for newcomers to take notice.

Congrats on the watch btw.. Where are the pics? :-!

I agree with you RJRJRJ, I think they did it to attract a younger demographic. From my observations the younger generation likes designer style and flashy type watches and Breitling is playing to that. I can't say as I'm crazy about the B01, but to be fair I've yet to handle one. I'll probably wait to see which model they put the new manufacture movement into next. psssst, Breitling- Navitimer World.
