Hi Guys, I'm thinking about buying a speedmaster day date 3523.30 or 3221.30 with silver face. I would prefer the Speedy Pro, but haven't seen them with a white or silver face. I have alot of black faces in my collection and want something different.

Was wondering if there are any drawbacks to this model? I tried on the 3523.30 at a local shop, liked the look of it, but couldnt tell if the watch was too small or not. I was wearing my Breitling Evo at the time so I'm thinking thats why it felt small.

Any opinions or suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

Heya eye :-)

I'm relatively new to Omega. I like the day/dates as well. For me drawbacks are in the eye of the beholder. I don't think there are any drawbacks to the day/date personally. Some might say "well that's not a real moon watch." Very few are though.

The Speeds do wear smallish imo. Dimensions say otherwise. Maybe because of the ~14.3mm height vs diameter ratio and the small bezel.

My suggestion (and many others I am sure) is to get what speaks to your gut the most and try them on a couple of times at an AD if possible. That's always your best bet!

Wishing you luck in your 1st Omega quest |>

I appreciate your thoughts. I guess I should probably go try it on a couple more times. I definately feel drawn to the watch, just don't know if the size will be that big of a factor, if it was just slightly bigger I would not even think twice.

good choice imo - but most speedy owners would suggest the "real" speedmaster - Pro, the moon watch.

i have both the Pro and Date (blue dial), love them both.

Can't go wrong with any modern Omega pretty much :-) Once you go back to the AD a few times, try on all the options on your list, look at pictures more online etc etc you will eventually eliminate any doubts / issues and be able to pick one or the other and be very pleased with it for many years :-! Best of luck to you ;-)

I can understand your not wanting to get another black dialed watch. One advantage is they are easier to read even in low light situations. As far as the silver dial you mentioned, I find them hard to read IMO. They do have a white dial known as the Alaska Project LE and the price is high. If they had it as a regular production I would consider it.
The main moon watch is timeless and one will never tire of it. They hold their value well.

Yeah the only reason I don't want the moon watch is b/c of the black dial, right now I just want to get something with a white/silver face. Thats the other thought in my head that the day date is not the real moon watch. I saw the Alaska Project while at the AD, but its out of my price range right now, but it is a good size.

Keep the thoughts comming guys, definately helps my decision process.
Thanks

There are limited edition speedy pro's that don't have black dials. for example, Apollo 11 35th anniversary(white w/ black subdials), Gemini IV 40th anniversary(blue with silver subdials) etc. They typically sell at a bit of a premium and don't come around that often, but they're out there.
I had a Gemini IV at one time....it was a beautiful watch....just a bit hard to read compared to the "standard" speedy pro.
